What does the RCA remote unlock? Local dimming? THX modes? DVR functionality? I might just go to Walmart today to pick one up.

The full model number is RCA RCR312WR.... assuming every Wal-mart is the same they have it hanging up on the wall with the other home theater items.... funny thing is its the cheapest remote they had.

- Should I buy the TV now or wait for 2012 models to roll out ? Are they any better and how much expensive will they be? ( My budget : 1300 USD)
- I have a Klipsch 2.1 speaker set that takes input via 3.5mm jack. Does the 6500 have a 3.5mm audio out?
- How bad is the lag after all the tweaks and adjustments (renaming to PC)? I play Halo Reach and Gears online a lot. Would it be a bad choice for me to buy this TV?

Thanks!

Bump!

I wonder why the THX setting isn't available for the apps such as netflix?
Well that was easy. Got the $8 RCA remote from Walmart, now have local dimming and THX modes enabled. Shoot still within my 30 days to see if I want to return this TV or not. It is getting harder and harder.

Does anyone know if I can use my Logitech Dinovo Edge bluetooth keyboard with the lw6500? If it doesn't have bluetooth built in, can I use a dongle via one of the usb ports?
Thanks.

Anyone know how to make the ARC work? I set it to ON and my Pioneer VSX-521-k switches over to TV/Sat automatically so it looks like it is sensing the signal but I get no audio.

Figured it out.... You have to go into Simplink and set Speakers to HT Speakers.

Will have to try and automate that in the MX5000.....

You can unlock the thx picture options as well. With your tv remote just hit "8741" on the pic settings menu and they'll let you tweak them.

I couldn'd get to the service menu so I called LG support yesterday about the 5.1 surround problem. They sent a tech out today who fix the problem with no questions asked. Visit covered by warranty.

The problem we are referring to is you can not select THX mode when you are in Netflix or any of the built in apps on the TV

I was wondering if the 3D settings can be adjusted in a 3D movie. When I do a 2D-3D conversion I get a depth slider but I can't go into this option in a 3D movie.

How important are the updates to the 55lw6500?my tv is at 4.02.28 and I see a newer update at the lg website. My tv won't update wirelessly nor when I hard wire it. It says no update found.. I spoke to
An lg rep and they said to download the latest update from the website.i had previously tried that but had no success unzipping the file and getting the tv to recognize it on my USB flash drive. I don't know what to do.. Help.. My tv works fine btw. I just don't want it to fall behind on any updates ..

I finally got around to downloading the LG remote android app. For me using the touchpad function works better than the magic remote. I am really enjoying this.

Very relative qn - this is LW6500 forum so most people have made a decision to buy this TV already. If you absolutely need 3D then I would definitely highly recommend this TV. I would also highly recommend that you go into a store and watch a nice 3D movie (I tried Alice in Wonderland) to get a feel of what you prefer in terms of active vs passive 3D. Be reminded that lot of people have reported diziness etc after watching active 3D for extended periods so you may want to try this too (if not at a store may be at a friends place who has active 3D TV). The reason I am asking you to do this is because once your choice of active vs passive is clear there isn't much left to decide - this is one of the best passive 3D set on market (I could say its the best but some people prefer Toshiba/Vizio too)

If 3D is not what you are specifically looking for then your choices are even more broader - this is also a very good HD TV but with 3D out of equation you need to try Samsung, Sony, Panasonic etc and then decide. If weight and reflection are not a problem for you then I would highly recommend Panasonic Vierra plasma as an option - I own the LW6500 but panasonic plasma is the best HD picture I have seen.

Good luck!

I just hooked up an Onkyo receiver between my tv and HTPC. I've turned SIMPLink on the TV and RIHD on the receiver. Right now I'm just testing audio through the TV and pass-through when stereo is in standby.

Initially things work. But then after I power the tv down and PC goes into standby I have no sound. If I keep monkeying with the SIMPLink and turn the receiver on and off it eventually restores sound. Not good for WAF.

I have three goals -
1 - less cabling
2 - Play TV content through stereo using ARC
3 - Easily switch between using receiver or built in speakers for whatever we're watching.

95% of our TV viewing is from the HTPC. So having this work without headache is critical.

Anyone have good example of your SIMPLink/reciever settings?

Hey guys, well just got my replacement 55 LW6500 last night. I posted awhile back that my first one had severe flashlighting.
Well I am happy to report the new set is perfect, no flashlighting at all and the picture looks amazing! I am now very happy and really enjoy the 3D on here.

One thing I am interested in is getting THX and local dimming, however I can't find any of the remotes mentioned here in Japan. You guys can pick up an RCA for only $8, but I found an imported Harmony remote for over $180 No way I wanna pay that much.
So anyone wanna sell me a remote thats ready to active THX cheap? That is, if I still can't find one here in the next few days

I made the THX settings and nothing changed, loosened all the screws and massaged it even more. But nothing has helped. An LG repair man will come check it out and they said if its bad they can replace it. I'll see what happens.

I have a stand that has a mount pedistal in the back-center of the stand which allows a screen to be mounted with a wall mount attached to the pedistal. http://www.magnoliaav.com/Products/P...8/Default.aspx

Did you create a folder named "LG_DTV" on the USB drive? You should just need to unzip the firmware file and copy the contents to the LG_DTV directory and then when you insert the USB stick it should automatically detect it.

Hi All,

I notice that the 55Lw6500 is 240hz and the 65lw6500 is only 120Hz. Is there a reason why the larger size does not have the same spec? Has anyone compared the two? Is there a noticeable difference?

Thanks!

If you read the thread from page 25 to 35 there is lot of discussion @ differences between 65" and other versions, it will help you decide - there is really not a straight answer, its your preference that matters.

Instead of turning the tv off, try using the energy saving setting to turn the display off.

Still dinking with the settings on this TV. Can anyone tell me if DD 5.1 is passed via Arc down the HDMI? If not, will it with the 5.1 hack?

Hey Rob did you ever do a warranty claim? If so what did they say about the DSE?

Thanks Thomas
