Hello everyone

Finally I decided to let go of my Panasonic Plasma TH-42PV. I need help I can't decide which one to buy LG Infinia 55LW6500 (1799$), Sony BRAVIA XBR55HX929 (2,301.39$), and Samsung UN55D8000 (1,968.74$).... The price differences is not that high... I read Sony has a big issue with the lines on the edges, LG lag in gaming and samsung has uneven illumination ... I guess nothing is perfect

I would love to hear your suggestions guys ... please feel free to recommend another TV you have in mind

I feel feature wise and overall picture quality are best on the lg. The 2d to 3d option is a big favorite not to mention the glasses are super cheap and viewing angles are great. Gaming lag is a simple fix which has been explained in the forum. Im sure you've read that you can "hack" into the set as well which makes the tv that much better. I personally own the lg and absolutely love it. Im also a gamer and xbox/ps3/wii all look and play great on it. Fps such as mw3 show no (well non-noticeable to me at all) lag. Hope this helps

BTW - I was able to enter the service menu with an old Nokia I had lying around using the hack mentioned on openlgtv.org.ru.

Just picked up the 65LW6500 and I must say this TV is incredible. $2200.00 well spent IMOP. Service menus hack to open up

All these additional settings are icing on the cake. I'm hoping to get the PS3 and XBOX dialed in for lag this weekend. Just wanted to drop a thanks to everyone on this board. Especially MCHANEY for finding all the goodies !!!

I got this from LG about their 2012 line up: "Yes, LG will be releasing the 65LM6200 that is a edge LED, smart, Cinema 3D, it will be released the 3rd week of March."

I am convinced to buy LG Infinia 55LW6500... Now I can't seem to find it anywhere!! Why did LG remove it from the market?

Is there any websites that still sell it?

The only one that looks like it is Toshiba 55UL610U and LG Infinia 65LW6500 ? the 65 I can see is not favored because of the 120Hz..... I wonder if both of them can be hacked so I can enable THX...etc?

When I got mine (October), it came with a set of 10 of them for free! (Incloded 2 sets of clip-ons and two sets for kids) Can't get much cheaper than that!

I bought the 65LW6500 a couple weeks ago and haven't had time to do any real image tweaking, but I've noticed bright colors (like someone wearing a bright red shirt) tend to jump a little. It's quite noticeable and distracting. Has anyone else seen this and is there a tweak to fix it?

Can anyone else tell me if they have this issue: I don't know if my kids messed with something at some point in the new TV's first 2 weeks..but..I seem to have noticed a HUGE increase in the bloom of the white letters from any kind of source ( Boxee box, Directv) and this is quite annoying.

I have done a reset of video settings and this made no difference at all. I have played with the contrast settings and found no magic fix. Another issue that I noticed is the vertical banding I see on the right hand side of the screen during solid color scenes...it looks almost like 3 vertical shadows that are visible from the center of the TV to the right side. Again..I am not sure if there is a "real" reset for the settings but the current reset to default is not what I had thought it would be.

Any ideas?

Well my patience finally paid off on waiting for the price to drop on the 65LW6500 I've been wanting since Oct. I got it today at FRY's for $1899 plus add the gift cards I had and I was out the door for $1705 total. Now to see if I can program my Acoustic Research remote to get into the service menu.

I have just got a 55LW6500, which I pretty happy with so far. One thing I haven't been able to figure out is how to adjust the 3D Distance. Some 3D Blu-Rays are hard to focus on when the elements extend out of the TV, ...when they are from the screen back they are fine. I found the option to change the distance and left-right when you hit the 3D Option key (Q.Menu) on the remote during 3D playback, ...but the 3D Distance is ALWAYS greyed out, and you are unable to change it. How do you adjust this as I would really like to dial down the effect as the crosstalk of those protruding elements is painful to watch on some titles (the Jean-Michel Cousteu titles in particular, but also to lesser degree in likes of Despicable Me and Pirahna 3D).

The tv has ALOT of adjustability built into it. I would say play wit the power saving mode or the ambient light sensor mode.. Try tweaking your settings from the "VIVID"setting. Everyone's eyes And preference are different but I found the vivid setting to be the best to adjust off of..as far as the vertical shadows you're experiencing I'm st a loss because I've never experienced that with my 55lw6500..let us know how u make out

i didn't know that, a tv could be 47 inch, i thought it will be 46 or something. definitely 47 inchs are awesome.

Finally took the time to use some patience and follow instructions and I was able to get the latest update onto a flash drive and the tv took it without any problems. I don't know if I benefit from it personally but what's the point in having a tv if it's not up to date? Im a little bummed out that it didn't get updated wirelessly nor when u hard wired it. I guess I'll have to keep an eye in LG'S website for future updates. All in all, LOVE my set... Had it since October. Best $1400 I ever spent . Thx for the assistance

Try the slider below the one that says distance, don't remember the name, but it does change the 3D effect.

I picked it up on AMAZON.COM. Company out of California called Audio and VIdeo Center had it on sale last week. Even better yet I saved the tax because I was out of state. Hope this helps.

I plan to go up to best buy this week to see the 65lw6500 but was curious to see how dark is the 3D picture on this set? I just assume it has a darker pic because of the type of glasses it uses. Is this the case? How is the brightness compared to Samsung active led?

Last time I was in BB they had a Sony active and an LG passive set up side by side. I watched the 3D promos on both and chose the LG. YMMV. Didn't see an active Samsung display though.

Just for kicks, here's a picture of my 55lw6500 taken with my camera on night setting mode. This does not indicate how the tv looks to the naked eye, but shows the lighting uniformity on a longer exposure. My set does have moderate light bleed with the top left being the worst and then the bottom right being second. The other corners are ok. My only concern is that the light bleed is worse now than when the set was new (4 months ago). When my tv first turns on and shows the LG logo, the light bleed looks really bad, but once that 'initialization' is over then it settles down.

Rob what did LG say about the DSE? I had the tech from the electronics store come out and look at mine. He was rude to my wife and said that it was within an acceptable limit. However he would see if LG would authorize a panel replacement. However he told us not to count on it. I am pretty pissed

There is darker picture in 3D mode. This is mostly caused by the tint of the polarized film. Funny thing is I work at a company that makes 3D glasses for the cinema and passive tv's. This is one of the main reasons I bought the passive system. I have my customs setting (ISF User 2)cranked up brighter to make up the difference. Seems to work well.

I did more research (google) into DSE and it seems to be something that affects a variety of sets, even plasmas. I figure the chances of a replacement panel having DSE are pretty good so there probably isn't a point in replacing it. Some people think the DSE is caused by the anti-glare screen coating.

Hi friends! Just got the 65LW6500. Loving the set. It replaces a Samsung DLP. Its like night and day. Out of the box the pict is horrible, definitely needs tweaking. Right now, I'm using THX Cinema modified. Even tho I have a Harmony One remote, I didnt want to have a dedicated button for the service menu on it. I used LG Service Menu Explorer, it worked out great.

I don't understand what turning on the DVR function does for my set. Can anyone clarify this for me? Thanks.

I just opened Premium Apps and a pop-up said a software update was found and the software updated. Any idea what this update might have included? The nerd in me wants to know. The firmware on the TV is still the .62 version.

That's odd. I've been waiting for my set(55in) to take that update on its own. I eventually did an update thru a flash drive last weekend. I think that update addresses an issue with Skype. But a few weeks back I did see on The lg website that it addresses certain audio issues within vudu and Netflix, as well as adding the NHL premium app. Those are a couple issues that I can remember..

Is there any iPhone app that may be able to access the service menu? Possibly a remote app that lets you input the info and then access?
