Press and hold down the TV key and enter code 11265 and keep holding the TV key and the On/Off should be on. You can now let go of TV key. Press Guide button you should get the enter code pop up on the TV screen.

Thanks...

I'm using these ISF calibrated setting for a 55lw6500 I found and they seem to be working very well on my 65LW6500. Try these and see if it helps you any.

Anyone wanna send me an RCA remote already prgrammed to unlock the service menu and all to Japan? I'd gladly pay for the remote and shipping. The cheap Wal-Mart $8 one would do Just drop me a PM

I picked this up today. I hope somebody will help if I have anymore questions about adjusting settings or doing the THX/service menu access process. Thanks to all who have and will help me with questions in the future. You don't know how much help you are providing to me and I just wanted to say thanks!

It is not an option for you to get one from Korea? I mean you are pretty close.

The 6500 is a really solid TV and they sell it in a ton of countries, I am sure LG customer service could ship you an English remote.

Best of luck with your new smart TV.

True, I can't think a a reason a quick contact to LG customer service by e-mail would not solve this problem cheaper and faster.

Though I have Hard wired my TV to my Network, did the Adapter for Wireless WiFi come with this TV? If so I never looked for it and it may still be in my TV Box,I was just wondering.

Thanks

EDIT: Never Mind I found the Wireless adapter that comes with TV.

I would doubt that LG would be willing to send out remotes that access the service menu unless you are an authorized repair dealer. I do not think they condone users accessing the service menu. I don't think I would call support and tell them that I am playing around in the service menu. Just something to think about. If you have access to an android phone or tablet I would look at using the app that someone created to access the LG service menu if you can't get access to a cheap programmable that will work.

How/where do you go to turn the motion smoothing feature on and can you enable THX at the same time you enable the motion smoothing?

Does anyone know if the premium apps were updated recently? I had NHL gamecenter working for about a week and a half and now the tv reboots 5-10 secs into watching a game.

My TV has told me that it was updated for the past 3 days when I went into it? Not sure if it updated it all 3 times or was just telling me that it was but it was very strange.....

I might do the manual firmware update to the latest version since they have it on LG's website but have not pushed it out yet to the TV's for some reason.

Also noted that the volume level issue from Netflix streaming between DD and non DD material is still not fixed with DD much lower level or non Dolby Digital much higher......

Hello fellow members,

First post here. Got my TV last week and tried a couple of 3D videos over the weekend for a children's party using PS3 with the latest firmware. RIO played automatically with no setting change from the TV. The picture quality was great and 3D effect was excellent. However, I just cannot get Caroline to work. Tried many options including a new high speed HDMI cable, reset the PS3 and TV options with no success.

Apparently the TV did not switch to 3D automatically. When I manually did this using the 3D button on the remote, I have only 4 of the 5 3D mode available (2d-3d, side by side, top to bottom, checker board). The last option (frame sequential) blinks rather than greyed out and is not accessible.

Tried the available 3D options, side by side and top to bottom gave double visions, while checker board had almost no effect. The image is blurry with raimbow edges .

I have upgraded the TV to the latest firmware 4.03.13 before I tried the 3D videos, so cannot be sure if the firmware is the problem.

this is the Bluray 3D disc of Caroline and not the DVD disc correct?

Yes, it is the BD disk with both the 2D and 3D versions.

I had the same thing happen when I went to the home page settings. Several times I received a message that says "update has been detected and installed". However I have been on the 4.02.62 firmware since I purchased this tv 3 weeks ago. Funny how the NHL app works for 2 weeks and now crashes my tv.

Then it should work automatically. Perhaps a defective disc?

According to one of the other forums these mini updates are apps only. Apparently the apps can update separately from the main firmware.

.62 is the latest according to LG's website. They must have introduced a bug somewhere along the line of those 3 in a row web app updates.... Best to call them and let them know so we can see more updates! ;-)

Just bought the lg65lw6500 from best buy. So far I like the tv. Did a fair amount of research and decided to go with the lg passive 3d 65" inch over the panasonic active 65". I bought a sony bravia 46" lcd in 2009 and brought back the first one i had due to clouding issues. I really dont have any issues with the picture on my lg but there is one problem. I found a small dent in the metal on the back of the tv towards the top right corner. It doesn't seem to be affecting the picture at all and it doesn't look like the box was dented or smashed in the area where the dent would have happened. Should this dent concern me at all? Is this something that could have happened at the factory and not somewhere in transit? Would you bring back the tv and get a new one because of a dent in the back that does not seem to be affecting the tv's performance? Thanks for the help. I'm a new member here; my buddy turned me on to avsforum and so far I love it.

Thank you DigitalKnight for the help. Can you or someone confirm if BD has region code? I live in New Zealand. The working disc RIO has the region 4 code and the BD logo (a capital B inside a hexogon), but the non-working Coraline does not have any logo. I think it is designed for the NTSC system because the SD content is labelled 480i/p. Will go and rent another disc over the weekend to try.

Some further info, when I played Rio and pressed the display button on the PS3 BD remote, the displayed video info is MVC with bitrate info for two streams. However when Coraline was playing, the displyed video info was VC-1 with only bitrate info for one stream. Does this mean that I got only half the image that form the 3D video?

I bought the 47" version of this tv and love it. I do have one problem though....

When I use my netflix app, my vizio sound bar doesn't work. You will hear a high pitched "ting" as a show/movie is loading then nothing...no audio at all. Has anyone else experienced this? The soundbar works fine the rest of the time.

Sorry if this has already been addressed...I haven't really read through much of this thread.

I have the 55lw6500 connected to an older kenwood receiver via optical out from the tv using a optical to RCA converter and my Netflix app was putting out surround sound since I got my tv in October. That is UNTIL they just put out the latest update. Now I get a hissing sound from my speakers ... So I'm sure the latest update affected that..so I've resorted to watching Netflix thru my ps3,and I'm getting full 5.1 surround sound thru it..

Not sure how Sound Bars work but have you enabled Dolby Digital OUT from the TV though the Service Menu? I wouldn't think this really effect it because not all Netflix is in DD but just a thought

Well, I haven't checked out the service menu(I was just reading through this thread, trying to figure out the thx stuff). Anyhow, the Netflix stuff initially worked, but the last two weeks it hasn't. I still have volume if I use the TV speakers. I have the vizio 200 soundbar.

Does this tv have a motion smoother option? If so where do you go to turn it on?

Perhaps you are looking for TruMotion (in PICTURE settings).

I'm wondering if I'm having ill effects because of changing a setting in the service menu. I'm hoping turning the local dimming option on hasn't created this problem. I will try turning it off tonight to see if any problems are resolved. I had a similar crash on a mkv video file this afternoon. I have already submitted an open case number to LG.
