LG PASSIVE LW6500 dedicated thread... - Page 81

I'm curious about that also, and have another question.

With all the new LG TV's out they have so many apps and the new remote that you wave and click... My Japanese LW6500 has no apps at all sadly, is there a way I can update it with a new firmware and have all the apps and use the new remote?
Actually there is a section in the service menu to turn on the apps. They're already turned to "1" (meaning they are switched on) on my American set, but I have no idea if the Japanese one has the same option locked.
Hope I can do it, I'll have to enable the menu

I was using Nero 4 which was supplied with the TV to stream video from my PC.

Recently the TV does not link to the PC, checked Media Link screen and it says to install PLEX.

Installed PLEX and it did not work....................did anybody managed to transfer to PLEX ?

Anyone have any thoughts on the Media Director thing? I turned it off, but I'd certainly like to try it out if it's harmless.

Only things I noticed so far is the position of the input and set-up box at the Home splash has changed with an ad for the LG apps next to it. I also went to the LG aps and I think it may look different as well. Outside of that I can't really tell. The only other thing it could have been for is something to do with that LG Cloud app

My eyes have begun to hurt from reading page after page, so i'm just going to flat out ask, can anyone point me in the direction or know the best settings for the lowest amount of response time for gaming? I currently have it on game mode with basically everything off and it still feels a "laggish." Is this the best I can do with this TV and it just isn't responsive enough for me or is it just that I got accustomed to my monitor for my PC for shooting games which is 2 ms response time and I basically screwed myself?

i think thats as good as it gets. i read another post where someone mentioned using the rgb connection to reduce lag but i havent tried
post #2411 of 2480
Is it me or am I seeing improvements with 3D with the new update? I'm finding a more polished image especially where straight lines (like movie credits) are concern... I guess a better way to put it less of that stair stepping effect.
Hope so, how doe's one upgrade? I have a Japanese model and hope I can upgrade mine easily.

I have the 55" version and gaming flat out stinks the lag is crappy and if I would have known that I would not have bought the tv...as an avid rock band player the first time I attempted to play RB3 I promptly failed I knew there was a problem

Hey all,
I'm very new to the forum. I've had a look around but I have not been able to find this addressed anywhere.
I have the LG 47LW6500 running 04.03.03.
My TV refuses to get its clock automatically set.
It has a wired connection with a dynamic IP.
I believe that is all the info that would be related to this problem.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Thanks.

**EDIT**
I'm seeing now that the TV gets its time from a TV channel?
Why does it not use NTP?
I suppose I'm out of luck until I do something more that OTA programming.

Does anyone know if it's possible to use exFAT format? I use a Mac for practically everything I do and as you might know, the FAT32 is limited to 4 gigs per file and the tv will not recognize OS extended and it seems that it will not recognize exFAT as well. I have some movie files that are beyond 4 gigs. I would have thought LG would have an update for exFAT by now. If anyone knows of a hack of some sort to go around this, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance! biggrin.gif

I should note that I'm talking about external hard drives. smile.gif

You could try ext2, I'm not sure if it works or not though

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried using ext2, but my Mac isn't recognizing it. I read online that if you do get it to work, it can only read and not write. After doing a little more research, I found a program called Tuxera NTFS, which allows me to read and write in Windows format on a Mac. Hopefully on one of their releases, they'll permit exFAT, but I won't hold my breath. rolleyes.gif Hope this helps others.

first off 2ms "response time" on the monitor your used to is actually a measurement of time it takes for a single pixel to refresh and has very little to do with input lag "the delay between a button being pressed and the time it shows on screen". Being an AVID FPS gamer myself i can tell you that it doesn't matter what you do settings wise to your TV the LG6500 series is just plain garbage when it comes to gaming. If i had known this before i purchased it i would have re considered. Watching 3D blu-ray on the other hand it is amazing. smile.gif so just some friendly advise , Keep playing on your monitor. because unless your willing to go to a CRT tv you will never match a monitor for input lag.(That's why all the proper FPS tourneys use 23" monitors)
Cheers!

Try changing the input label name to "PC" -- it may be the placebo effect, but it seems to have made it much faster for me.

True motion on he LW6500 is a waste of time your refresh rate is 200hertz so true motion actually makes the picture have ghosting. Turn it off and enjoy a better picture. I'm not even sure why they put the feature on there as it really doesn't need it because the tv has such a super fast refresh rate.

Get a program called NTFSx it will allow your mac to read and write NTFS files. Problem solved.

If you have a surround amp go into settings on your ps3 or xbox360 and select optical audio then just plug it directly into the surround and the Hdmi into the tv. If you surround has Hdmi just plug through there before tv and ignore the first step.

The latest update seems to have improved the issue i was having with input lag while gaming. Though it has not completely eliminated the issue, it is noticeably better, and borderline playable
post #2427 of 2480
Also, anyone using a fiber optic (optical) cable for a surround sound system via the TV's optical out, you need to enable AC3 in the service menu. There is an android phone app that does it and makes the process extremely easy to access the service menu. It's called "LG service menu explorer" and it's developed by Underground Lab. Hope this helps!

I have the 65 and I absolutely cannot play Call of Duty on this TV. I have tried everything and I know it is the TV. It creates a lag and I get killed all the time. I have to play on my older TV and I basically own on most matches if I'm not playing against someone as good as me. Some have said to reduce the PS3 to 720p, that didn't help. I tried running HDMI directly to TV, that didn't help. I normally would have it through AVR first but bypassing directly to TV should have fixed lag if it was the AVR. The older TV a 52" Sharp 1080p is very quick and the response is just right from controller to screen response. I don't know what is wrong with the LG 65 but it just will not work for gaming, at least when reaction time is critical.

I'd love to hear if anyone else has had this problem with this TV because when I go to upgrade I may have to just sell this set and keep the older Sharp for gaming as I can't use the LG.
Tom I have the same problem as you, gaming on it was horrible and made me upset.

I am also now having another problem. I noticed this before but seems to be getting worse as the TV gets older. When watching 3D movies, almost every movie now I see motion blur. At times it even slows down a bit and around objects or people moving I see like a ghostly kinda transparent smear across them. If there are fast moving pans I often see it slow and skip a bit and the transparent smear shows. It is not bad but very noticeable and annoying at times. I use a PS3 to view movies, and it is not the PS3.. I watch the same movies on my Sony and they look great with no problems.

My LG is a Japanese model and for the life of me I could never get it to update.. I tried a USB with the update, and it would not read it. I tried connecting to the net and that failed. The firmware is quite old, when the TV was released so I wonder if updating would help this or fix the problem? Anyone else experience this even with updates?
Mine was pretty stubborn when trying to update the first time. Actually, it failed several times, then I just left it go. After quite a long time, it finally updated. After that, all updates were quick. I don't have any explanation for it.

As to input lag, are you using Game Mode? That should turn all unnecessary processing off, though I'd double check to be sure. Especially Tru-Motion.

As to the blurring, my guess is that it's the motion interpolation (Tru-Motion). Try turning it off. My settings are: de-judder: 3 and de-blur: 9. Much depends on the source content. Fast motion on a "busy" scene will more likely show such ghosting and blurring.
