Yeah, that is why I think it is really a LW5600 along with the 120Hz refresh rate.
Here is the pic to prove it as promised.

On the 5300 - you could see spikes of light jutting into the picture area. Mostly noticed when you were watching any material that left you with black borders - then you could really see the spikes. Worst being the lower left hand corner. When you went to a full screen video, where the spikes of light were before, now you could see the spike area picture was washed out versus the rest of the picture. After a little tweaking - great colour, but there was no way I was going to live with light splashing into the picture all around the frame! From now on, unless it's a back light LED, I'm leaving these side lights alone!

It looks like I will be sending the 65lw6500 back to amazon- I don't need a 65 " mirror- very disappointed. The lw5600 has a matte finish- it appears only the 65lw6500 is glossy. I am upset that lg couldn't make a 65" version of the 55lw6500- very deceptive. I guess I will be force to wait.

Well, I'm at the point now where I'll be getting the 65 in a few days...luckily, my wife isn't a videophile, but light bleed may be noticeable. I don't know...anyway, I'm now mildly terrified of any issues that may arise since I have a few days of overlap from delivery before I go on a fairly lengthy work (military) "outing". In otherwords, I won't be there to fix it if it's broke. I was very close to getting the Vizio 65" and that one has a glossy screen, so maybe this won't be that bad....shhhhh. No talking! Don't jinx me!
I just checked with LG, the 65LW6500 is glossy, the 55LW6500 is matte, and the LW5600s are all matte. I'm a matte guy, I hate glossy screens as I have a window directly behind my TV, but after looking at all the MURA and light leaking of these LED panels I realized I'd rather have a pristine picture with inky dark blacks than a crappy non-reflective screen, so I bought a motorized curtain rod and programmed my universal remote to push a button and close the window behind my TV with a blackout curtain. Every TV made in 2011 by Samsung, Sony and LG has a glossy screen, except for Sony's entry model which isn't a good picture, and this LG 55LW6500. I believe Vizio makes a matte screen.

Maybe I'm unlucky, but I don't want to have to buy and return 4 TV's before I get one with no MURA, as I had to do with Samsung in 2007, it's a hassle.

Our cable provider supplies 1080i. Anyone knows if this TV can upconvert 1080i to 1080p? I have not been able to find a setting...
All TVs that accept 1080i de-interlace it to 1080p. It does not need any uscaling. You can read about 1080i de-interlacing at the following link.

I just pulled the trigger on the 55LW6500 and will have it delivered in about 10 days. I come from a Sony XBR 4 & 6 background, so I am looking forward to comparing the best that Sony had to offer in respective past years against this LG.

Anyone here note anything tricky about mounting this TV?

Before mounting, better give yourself 48hrs with it on the stand to check whether it's to your liking. Read reviews of previous purchaser, and watch for what he's telling you, and if you see the same, whether you can live with it!

Is $1300 a good price for the 47LW6500? includes 4 glasses only. That's about it. Thanks.

Wii 480p game mode, ~120ms lag
Wii 480p game mode with input labeled PC, ~120ms lag
Wii 480p game mode with sidebars instead of squashed, ~120ms lag

I didn't see any difference from labeling an input as PC. The Xbox is able to output to the display's native 1080p, but 75ms lag remains. It occurs to me that I never checked the sound settings, so it's possible auto-volume was on and introducing some lag (though I'd hope game mode would turn off everything that causes lag). I have a 32" 1080p Sharp that I use for gaming and it's virtually lag free for both xbox and wii.

Though I'm not testing the lag as you were, I am (and both of my sons) just playing games with the 360. Both 1st person shooter games and using the Kinect. Using game mode, we don't notice any lag at all. This was actually a concern of mine before I bought this set due to some of the reviews, but I have to say I am very pleased with this TV in all regards and that includes gaming.

Mounting this TV was pretty easy. The only difficulty was holding the TV by the wall (with my son) and plugging in the cables. I used a Sanus tilting mount.

Ok got my 65LW6500 mounted and I have been testing the 3D out. While viewing some 3D content of a bright green ghost on a black background I noticed some crosstalk. I then connected my PS3 directly to my tv and turned off all the image enhancing features. Most of the time I can not notice any crosstalk, but when there is a bright object next to or surronded by black, it is easily noticeable. I have shot 2 pictures through the lenses of my 3d glasses. When you compare them, you can clearly see ghosting of the sky on to the tower in Wipeout. I tried playing with every color/display setting, and none even helped. Is this something that is normal? From what I have read there is no such thing as zero crosstalk, but should I see something this bad on a passive 3d tv?

I received a new firmware/software update this morning for my 55lw6500...I'm not sure what has been updated.
I don't believe it- I will find out tomorrow when my 65lw6500 is delivered and see if I can live with the glare during the day...

Do the firmwares come automatically? I had to check, but I do have updates turned on.
Make sure you check for MURA, light bleeding etc, mine was really bad at night, maybe the glossy screen will help eliminate some of it.

I just called LG as well, and they indeed do believe that the 65lw6500 SHOULD have a matte finish. I also spoke about the Crosstalk issues I posted before about. They are sending a technician Thursday, to confirm the Glossy and to take a look at the crosstalk.

I have the 65lw6500 that I got delivered from BB a week ago and it has a glossy almost mirror like finish. I can't believe that the LG techs don't know the specs of their own TV???????

I have a glossy screen on mine and there are "brighter" areas on the screen that are easily visible in a dark room when the screen is black.

When I had all the HDMI cables plugged directly into the TV and used the optical out from the TV then to feed all the sound to my reciever I didn't notice any lag. However, I wasn't able to find a way to get the TV to forward the dolby digital audio from the HDMI connections over to the optical out, only the 2 channel PCM sound would go across, so I swapped everything to an Octiva HDMI splitter so I now have digital sound but there is a lag now unless I turn off all of the picture enhancements which is disappointing.

Yes it is very glossy, but I believe I can live with the glare- just set mine up- I quickly tried some comcast 3d content - How to Train Your Dragon - looked good. I also bought a panasonic 3d bluray player- will watch some 3d bluray movies tonight. I'll post more later.

My 65lw6500 just had a new firmware push as well. Went from 03.something to 04.something instead of just upgrading to another 03. version, which would imply some significant change, but i have no idea what is different.
Yep, that's MURA. I can't deal with it so I returned it, but for most people I guess they won't care... but it's annoying, my eye keeps drifting towards the white clouds during dark movies, takes me out of whole experience.

OK, now that I have the 65lw6500 I am not sure where to go for some setting suggestions- this tv is not like the other lw6500s... this tv is only 120Hz and has a glossy screen... I tried to find some calibration settings in this thread and the lw5600 thread, but there are things that are different- like I can't find where to turn on/off LED local dimming (is this a feature on this set?). I am fairly happy with the picture- so far, but I want to know all that this tv has to offer... thanks (not sure if I should start a new thread for 65lw6500 owners- not sure how many are out there)...

Updated the firmware yesterday and the 3D is noticeably sharper! I believe this is the new 3D scan pattern they talked about back in May.

I have several 3D items that I have watched many times so I know them quite well (Pirates 4 trailer on the Tron Legacy disc & light cycle sequence on Legacy, as well as the Uncharted 3 beta).

I was worried about motion problems with this new double rate but it seems ok...

Is anyone else seeing this? Or am I crazy?

Also, Hulu Plus is now in the Premium apps section.
I posted this in the "Official LG 47LW5600/55LW5600" forum in LCD panels. I just want to see if anyone else is having these issues.

This may happen with other premium apps but the only one I use is Netflix. For the past few days I have been having problems connecting to Netlix. I try logging in and watching Netflix from my PC and there are no problems at all, so this seems to be an LG issue somehow. (And I determine that it is an LG issue, due to the fact that I have an LG blue ray home theater system with LG premium apps, and when I have trouble with the TV apps, I also have trouble with the apps on the blue ray player.)

- I have NO issue's with watching Netflix content from my PC ever.
- For the past week or so, I frequently have problems watching Netflix content thru the LG TV (or blue ray player).

Both use a wired connection.

Anyone else have any issues like this?

Any idea as to your Manufacturing date?
Just trying to pin down a possible build date to those having problems.

LG 55LW6500 on left, Panasonic VT30 on right. Contrast 90% Brightness 55% Sharpness 30% Backlight on LG at 35%... you can see the plasma has perfect blacks, the LG had bad lightleak everywhere, I hated to return the LG and drop the extra $500 on the Panavision but I like my blacks. Oh well, good luck to you all who buy this LG unit, the 3D does kick ass on this that's for sure.
