I just finished revamping my remote. I purchased the new template from iruletemplates.com and I have been very pleased with the results.

Most of the shared designs I found have a dark theme, so I thought I'd post a couple of screen shots just to show what my layout look like. If anyone is interested, I can ask him if he is willing to share.

Note this runs on a 10.1" Samsung GalaxyTab I have mounted on the wall, hence the large format. Basically the tablet controls will be used when entering the room to power up the system and for basic playback controls. When seated, we will use various phones or a 7" GalaxyTab, the latter dedicated as a remote.

Home screen - user selects if TV or projector display is desired, or audio only:

In this case, selecting "TV" brings up a source selection screen:

Did you create the button graphics? If so, would you mind making the blank buttons available

Have an iPad2 setup and now I'm working on an iPhone. Does anyone have a DirecTV remote style background modified for an iPhone in Portrait mode (similar to JClam's iPad one) that might fit on 2 pages that they would share? - Thanks,

I did these a while ago for iPhone 4S but never cleaned them up. Maybe you can get them where they need to be and share them back?
JClam

And here's a landscape version for iPhone 4s I played around with a while ago. I use my iPad 99.9% of the time so haven't spent the time finalizing any of my layouts on iPhone.

Thanks, I hesitated sending them since they're not finished product, but hopefully someone will find them useful...

I think I was playing around with full screen, so those will need back and home buttons.

Yes - fantastic! Thanks so much, just what I was looking for. Are these available in the builder?

Just shared them. Browse the library for panel or images and go to user and search for JClam, they should be there.

I'm always updating my UI but I did some pretty extensive work this time. I'm not sure I like it.

I've been lurking around for the last couple of months looking at peoples iRule layouts. Took me a while to 'get' the iRule online editor, but it's starting to make sense now. Here's my current panels, still tweaking the Denon page, Roku needs fixed design wise and I suspect I'll always be tinkering with something.

Looking good, what are you using to be able to send signals to the PS3?
post #230 of 355
I'm using the Global Cache IP2IR and the Logitech PS3 IR to Bluetooth adapter.

Can you give me the model number of your Logitech PS3 IR to Bluetooth adapter?

There's only one as far as I know... The one I've been using for a couple of years now:

Just thought you want to know, the logitech one does not have dedicated OFF commands. It is controlled by pressing PS, and then X and X. So, you will need to program this yourself. Check the irule support forum, or let me know if you need help. The other thing is that the since pressing PS also act as turning ON the PS3, you can't have a "toggle" power button if your design calls for that.
On the other hand, I think there is another PS3 adapter that do have dedicated OFF commands, but it is about $100 so it is double the logitech.

Please share how you did this. I have been struggling with this for a long time and it simply does not work. I even created a separate PS3 device with an increased duration PS3 button command, but no success.

Also, if you are inside an application, e.g. Netflix, or a game, the command sequence is different, so I do not think a power off command from iRule that always works is possible.

post #235 of 355
Try the following commands all with 0.5 seconds delay except before the last X make it 1.5 seconds, you may have to play with the delays, but this works for me.

PS delay PS delay PS delay PS delay Down delay Down delay X delay X

The 4 PS in a row seems to be enough to simulate holding PS
Down twice handles the 2 different menu types you can get, if you get the 2 option menu, it just cycles back to the shutdown option and if it's 4 option menu, you'll select the shutdown menu option

I have a Harmony Remote control also and this is how it does the Playstation Shutdown

Went back did some more testing in a bunch of situations and decided on this sequence to get the Playstation to shutdown:

PS delay PS delay PS delay PS delay DOWN delay DOWN delay DOWN delay UP delay X delay X

it seems to work for the 2 and 4 option shutdown menu.

I can't view the builder on my iPad but when I am home tomorrow I will post my settings but I have shutdown consistently working using I second device with a longer ps. I will post the exact numbers as soon as I can
post #238 of 355

Ok here are my settings for PS3 shutdown using the logitech adapter.

I have two of the PS3 Logitech devices in the builder.

One I called PS3 Standard which is straight from the database.

The other I called PS3 Long PS and in that one I changed the PS repetition to 10

My Power off button has the following command structure:

*PS --> PS3 Long PS

*Delay 2.0 sec

*Cross --> PS3 Standard

*Delay 0.8 sec

*Cross --> PS3 Standard

Works every time even when inside a game or app at least all that I have tried.

So, did you import 2 device? I would like to create another PS, but since it is database code, I cannot add/remove. However, your workaround on importing another device might work better.

For myself, my combo is:

PS (repetition 15)
Delay 4s
Cross
Delay 1.5s
Cross

I try that about 5-6 times and work all the time. I am using a blaster, so timing might be different if you are doing an emitter.
It does NOT work when you are knee deep in some app. For example, in Amazon Video, it works if I am just enter the first level (i.e. you see all the catergories and etc). However, if I go down one more level to already pick a movie, then this shutdown does not work. However, to be fair, that does not work even with my "real" logitech remote, so ...

Turns out I had forgotten to add the long-PS device to the iTach port on my GalaxyTab... no surprise nothing happened rolleyes.gif
