mborner and steve,

I like these smudges, never tried it myself but was tempted to sign up for the online courses that were being advertised on the DPreview forum a while ago. Never got around to it though. There are some excellent smudges on there.

Must get back to fiddling with my irule 14 day trial,

Graham

I didn't do mine with the smudge tool. It is a straight painting, without tracing, but using a separate reference photograph.

That's even better then, I wish I could do work like that. Wouldn't know where to start or even have the patience, well done.

Great idea for a screenshot only thread!

I'd post pics of my ipod touch setup, but it got stolen recently, so I'll need to get another one to get back into this....

no offense guys but we need less chat and more screenshots or else it will be hard to navigate just like the other thread!

I went through a overhaul last night.... i work at Best Buy and played around with control4 and decided i wanted to go something that route so i made a menu system similar.

this is all the "remotes" for the different devices im running or own

I deleted those pages along time ago and now im buying a new receiver and have a Itach on the way so i would like to remake these pages but i am looking for alittle inspiration as to where to start because im just drawing a blank.

I have a panasonic tv, yamaha receiver as a reference.

Thanks for the kind words, Jeff. I exported the background from the iRule image library and imported it into Photoshop. From there, I can create graphics of the exact size that I need for my UI. I'm still working on your projector, by the way.

Mike,

Thanks so much for your generosity and great projector icons!! That was exactly what I wanted.

How can I repay you?? Are you on the iRule staff??

ONe last thing, and I'm sorry as you've done so much, but where can I find those insets you've put in to your screens? The ones with audio adjustments, etc?? What a great feature! Or is there a simple way to generate one?

Thanks!!! Jeff

LOL! No, I'm not on the iRule staff. There's no compensation necessary. Computer graphics have always been my hobby/passion. I don't do it professionally, which is one reason why I'm thrilled to do it for other people. Trust me when I tell you, it makes me happy to do it! Again, thank you for the kind words. It doesn't go unnoticed when someone acknowledges my work.

You're a great guy and thanks so much for your help. I'm having so much fun with this. You're a real asset here. I'm sure we all appreciate your efforts and tutoring!

Thanks, again, Jeff. You know, I remember you from way back, when I first joined AVS in 2004. You posted a lot in the audio section. Back then, your user title was "Ace of Bass". I learned a lot from you.

My new Denon page!

Thanks Mike Borner for all the help!! Those are his insets!!!

Jeff / Mike,

Great looking interface ! I don't have an iPad or iRule at this time, but may I make a suggestion from a purely visual design perspective. I think the borders would look better with rounded corners and maybe as dotted / broken lines or in a different colour. To my eye the square white borders jump out too much and are not in keeping with the style of the rest of the interface.

Hi Peter,

This was my doing! I asked Mike to do it this way like this but once placed, I felt they were a bit heavy. I agree with you. I love how they delineate and partition various groupings of buttons. Also, I asked for white, but perhaps a light gray (or dark gray??) might further soften and make things more integrated looking

I thought a thinner line but didn't consider rounded corners. A good idea. Perhaps Mike will chime in. He is a wonderful help here and has provided some excellent graphics for us new iRule users.

I have used grey for the lines and text on my background images as well as the labelling on buttons that I have made.
I used values of R:215, G:215 & B:215 in Photoshop

Hi, Jeff. I sent you some new graphics with a thinner line, hope you like them.
As I mentioned in my note, the new lines are 1 and 2 pixels wide. Since we are dealing with pixel graphics and not vector graphics, it's extremely difficult to get a single pixel line to curve at the corners and look right, especially when we're working with graphics this small.
Jeff, your UI looks great! You can play with the vertical alignment of the insets by increasing/decreasing the cell height of the inset and then playing with the row numbers.
Also, you can make the lines appear somewhat lighter by selecting the graphic and then moving it up one level in the tree.

Thanks Mike~

And thanks to you, it looks even better! White I think looks good. Perhaps a baby blue would be better but I am very, very satisfied! THe tweaking could go on forever. Even though the template is labeled' "Denon", I'm devising this to be a 'master template' for my 5 other players around my house.

Here is the latest with the smaller sized templates you sent! Thanks!!

Hello,

I really like this thread to see what other users are able to create.
I'm flashed!!!
Unfortunately I'm not a designer.
Just for a hint, perhaps somebody like the design and wants to adapt it:

I like the design of the App Hitpad http://www.hitpad.com/ for the iPad.

It's a great program, so just have a look.

Greets Thomas

PS: This shouldn't be advertisement just have a look onto the design ;-)

Peter, thanks for the input. Unfortunately, I hadn't seen Jeff's background when he made the request. You bring up some good points, although, I think Jeff's panel looks excellent. As he says, "the tweaking could go on forever".
I'm continuously making small changes to my own UI.

Nice pics!

Can anyone assist me on how to save the images from the builder page to my computer for editing? Only have the option to "delete image" when I right click on them in the builder. Thanks for any help!

Hi. Can't seam to figure out how to get a copy of the source blank button to make new once my self?
  • I tried dragging to my desktop on both my mac and in windows vista using firefox. In both cases once an image from the builder is dragged beyond the borders of the browser it's lost.
  • Right clicking wont work.
  • There is no explanation on how to use the irl files you get from the download page, I thought I needed a picture format, the irl is not know by my computers!?

Any help would help i guess.

Thanks Kasper

The blank source buttons can be downloaded from iRul's website.

Well, that is what I did, downloaded those irl files from the download pages of iRule, but I don't know how to use them? What software do I need to work with the irl files?

P.S. I now have an other way of getting those buttons, like you explained me in the main iRule thread, but I still would like to know how to use irl files.

Thanks Kasper
