I was hoping to create a thread seperate than the irule official thread dedicated to users remotes (screenshots) to help users get some creative insperation or ideas. We can share screenshots, ideas, photos, and templates.

i wanted to make this seperate because of the sheer size of the other thread and how hard it would be to navigate with everything happening in one place.

So guys please start posting your photos and help us spread some ideas and inspiration! Ill be posting mine once im home from work... even though its just an extension of the default template.

Thanks

This forum is a great idea. Is there any way to create an area for posting these images (or image libraries) and completed .IRL files for download?

+ 1 for this idea.

I really like what the user above also did with there setup... Very creative and effective.

If we could get this together that would be phenominal.

So far, everything is working flawlessly.

Here is a layout for cursor and transport buttons. The png file background is transparent. It gets put on top of a solid background. I use 100% transparent, rectangular buttons on the foreground layer. Also shown is a final implementation (from my old Pronto). I would be interested to see more novel button designs.

The linked file is 1000x1000 pixels http://i1202.photobucket.com/albums/...mbossed-5a.png This image is also attached as a layered .psd file.

How do you get the text on the background?

Thanks. In the first and second picture, I edited the default background image in photoshop. I added the "WATCH" and "LISTEN" bars plus the box surrounding "movies" and "music". You can't copy a file once it's in your personal image library, however, you *can* copy it while browsing for images.

1. click on the "images" tab and then select "actions".

2. Under actions, click "browse image libraries". You'll find the default background for iPad under "background iPad landscape".

3. Just click and drag the background to your desktop. You can edit it from there.

The rest of the text is done using iRule's "labels" feature.

Interesting design. Looks good. In the Photoshop file you posted, you have the opacity at 100%, however, in your second picture, it is clear that there is some transparency. What do you have the opacity set at on your second image? Just curious.

Thanks for the reply. I am not too sure about iRules "labels" feature. Where do I find it on the iRulebuilder?

Right click on the page that you want to add text to and select "add label"

Jerran,

I really like what you've done with your interface. Any way we could get you to share your graphics, with the "backgrounds" (AppleTV, Samsung, etc) transparent (and buttons omitted of course)? That way, we could reuse them and add our own "backgrounds" in Photoshop as a layer. You can share them in the iRule builder by marking them as shared in the Properties dropdown, similar to what others like Steve Goff have done.

Thanks!

Thanks - but I do have to give Steve Goff most of the credit for the design as I only took his idea and image and modified it to fit my button arrangement. I did everything in Photoshop, so the backgrounds are just a layer in the file. I'll have to save the files with transparent backgrounds, upload them and share them.

I do have a shared library called "Tab-Related iPad Landscape" I'll add the interfaces with transparent backgrounds as soon as I can.

Do you want the rings around the buttons turned on or off?

How about turned off, but include a file with just the ring so we could add them back where we want buttons? What is the secret for putting the rings exactly where they will align with the stock buttons? Thanks so much for your help!

The trick is placing the buttons where you want them, first, then take a snapshot of your screen and then build your background around the buttons that have already been placed.

Yep - that's it. I would place the buttons on the iPad screen in the builder and then take a screenshot and strip all but the iPad screen out of the screenshot in Photoshop - then add a new layer called "rings" and arrange them so that they line up to the buttons.

I can post my ring file, no problem - I'm sure someone can make a better ring though, I'm not real good with Photoshop just yet.

Are the color on/off buttons already in the image library somewhere? I've poked around in the iRule and Users tabs on the image libraries and haven't (yet?) found them. Similarly, I've come across some buttons with the Xbox logo, but the transparency is incorrect. If there are better Xbox buttons somewhere, or a tip on how to fix the transparency, I'd appreciate those pointers as well.

The color on/off buttons are not in the database. What I've done is use the default small buttons and placed my own power on/off .png icons on top of them.

Here's a .png XBOX logo that you can resize and place on any button you like.

I wish more people would share their images so I will contribute one myself to encourage others.

This is the home page when iRule starts. Still building but the rest is really ugly until I figure out what should be in or out of the iPhone version of my control.
