Yeah right around there about 476' no more flashlight, I really think there was more wrong with my 7000 then just the flashlight affect, and the line across the screen, could not even connect the wifi, no problem with the 8000.

Yeah, it sounds like you had a lemon 7000. Glad you have something that works now!

My UN46D7000LF was dead pretty much out of the box. Connected it (by cable) to the LAN, ran the plug and play wizard, it requested a firmware upgrade, which seemed to install ok. It then rebooted itself. Since then, it has consistently switched itself off after about 10 seconds of operation. Is there a factory default reset button somewhere? Samsung says they'll send a technician over later in the week. I'm miffed.

I am not sure what you were seeing but the pixels should be the same size on both TV's if they are the same size TV.

I received my new UN55D7000 on Friday but I did not have much time to play with it until yesterday. I am upgrading from an ln-t5271f.

Here are my thoughts so far. In general, I am pretty pleased with this TV.
  • The colors are awesome, especially in the daylight.
  • I am satisfied with both the white levels and the black levels after turning the backlight down to 10 and the brightness down a tad.
  • I haven't tried any tweaking yet but out of the box I am not impressed with the scalar in this TV. The scalar in my ln-t5271f was much better. It is not a big deal for me, I just started having my receiver upconvert to 1080p which resolved the issue but seems strange that it would be worse than a TV so many generations older.

I am still waiting for my new receiver so I have not been able to try any 3D stuff yet.

Cool. I'm upgrading from the same tv in the 46" (LN-T4671F). I'm waiting on the 46" D7000 to arrive this week.
Did you get yours locally or online somewhere?
Does the picture seem a lot better from the 71F?

I got mine online from Vann's. They had a 12 hour sale on it last weekend which brought the price to something reasonable.

After some basic tweaking I like the picture quite a bit better. Especially during the day. There is not much difference between watching this in a well lit room and watching it in a dim o dark room.

If I play with the settings a little more I think I can get it better still.

The default backlight setting makes the unit look pretty bad when you first get it. Make sure you turn that down before you do anything else.

I spent a good 3 hours yesterday tweaking the set. when i get home i will post my settings that I'm real happy with. But your right... my settings are almost perfect for blu-ray, gaming, and HD content.... Standard def... though... is atrocious.

Ill post my settings as soon as i get home from work.

Gratz!

I was about to pull the trigger on the 7000 because it was approx $500 less MSRP then the 8000. Was able to get a good deal making the difference between the two less so now I have a 55d8000 en-route that will be here in 7 days. Jumping over to the other thread now, just wanted to thank those that were generous enough to take pics and post preliminary info. Many thanks!

just got my 46d7000 from best buy. got the new firmware update, love this TV. came from the 56' DLP projection. have questions about the qwerty remote. where does it work? only in web browser app? prior to the firmware upgrade pairing failed every time, now after the firmware i cant use the mute 0 mute 0 to unpair to try again. i just dont think its paired up right because none of the buttons do anything to change anything.

i have tried 3d blu-ray, its great!
i have yet to play COD on xbox 360 in 3d but looking forward to it tonight.
std cable is real blurry, gonna have to get hd comcast.
I upgraded from an old Sony Projection big screen so some the LED features are still new to me, so forgive me if these are obvious questions....but like everyone said, I noticed that the UN55D7000 was really bright out of the box but for some reason when I change it from "dynamic" to "standard" it seems a little too dark. However, if I mess the the backlight settings, it gets a little brighter...even if I put it back on the same number it was under the "standard" setting. I noticed while watching Family Guy last night that the TV automatically changed back to the dyanmic setting without me pressing any buttons....it only happened once...I don't know why it did this...

Is it necessary to calibrate to the TV and pay $$ for it?? Or should I just keep tweaking the settings until it looks okay?? It's hard to find the perfect setting because different shows and channel have different brightness and resolution. And I still don't know what all the settings mean yet....

Try hitting the info button with the qwerty side up. If it works then u know it's paired. That side of the remote will only work it's facing up. 3D was better than expected on the shrek blu rays. It didn't look to impressive on COD when I tried it. Dude u really need to get HD. STD FTL!

Just picked up my 46D7000 today but haven't had time to do much with it. I can't seem to find anywhere in the menus where to turn on/off the startup/shutdown melody sound. I don't hear it right now. Did they do away with it on these D series? Just wondering.

Also, I'm unable to edit the HDMI sources to a different name - shouldn't I be able to?

Hi all.

I've had my 55D7000 for a week now. I freaking love this TV. So far there has been no bleeding. I've watched in dark and in light and both are awesome. My room gets a lot of natural daylight, so this set has been perfect for the room. The NCAA March Madness Tourney has been amazing on this set. I can really tell the difference between the games shot in HD and the commercials not shot in HD. :-) There hasn't been a problem with the action in the games and the PQ.

I don't game, so I can't report on that. DVDs have been awesome though. Streaming MLB.tv has been good too. I do notice there are some buffering issues if my husband and I are both online while mlb.tv is streaming, but that's a broadband issue with our internet provider.

The clear bezel around the sides looks really good in the room. We're wall mounting today when the mounting stuff arrives. Next week my 3D kit arrives, so I'll let you all know how that looks if you're interested.

Hope this helps.

Mona

Has anyone here with the d7000 had problems pairing the qwerty remote with the tv? I keep getting a "pairing failure" message. The other side of the remote works fine.

Stand right by the television and try to pair it then.

Found the problem using the live chat at Samsung's site-- remote had to be reset. I forgot the code they gave will post when I get home in case anyone else has problems.

So far had the tv 1 day and I love it! Has the clouding issue but really doesn't bother me since it's only visible when the screen goes totally black. Has slight flashlight effect also but also very minor. I like how it'll stream whatever video files you have on your computer, even HD resolution files! Played Black Ops on the Ps3 and wasn't that impressed. I think it looks better on my panasonic plasma. Had to switch it to game mode witch made the colors awful, couldn't adjust colors unless I got out of game mode. Out of game mode play felt weird, character moved way too fast. Team deatmatch in 3d mode was cool but mostly a distraction, probably won't play it in 3d again. Tried the Netflix streaming app but prefer the ps3 version. The app would blink black very once in while which was annoying, and the controls are much easier to use on the ps3

The first post says that the 7000 comes in a 60", is this still true?

I've been following the posts on the C7000 and D7000 for a while. I purchased a UN55C7000 last month and had to exchange it for flashlighting. It was really bad. Well the second set was the same way. Sears didn't have any sets left and said that model was discontinued. So I had to call Samsung. They issued a repair tag and the service guy said they were going to replace the panel. I wouldn't agree to that because the TV was less than 30 days old.

I called Samsung again and they agreed to exchange it with the D7000. Anyway - the guy brings the TV today and I hook everything up after he leaves. Here's a pic of what I'm dealing with now. Everything else is much improved from last years model but this is still unacceptable. I know the camera makes it look a little worse than it actually is but still!!

Did you remote come in the box? I got a voucher in my box, bought the 46d7000 from Best Buy on 3/11. When I went online to redeem the voucher it said it could take 8-10 weeks...that seems like a long time.

Useless without settings... Do you have the backlight cranked up? As has been said in the D8000 thread and numerous other threads, it is impossible to compare issues without knowing someone's settings.
