Some LED kits offer IR switching but their actual bias lighting performance is more complex and/or inferior to other options. i actually like the ES stand.

btw, i did the uniformity and flash lighting test (from pattern in the ES thread) and i was pleased with the results. minimal flash lighting and uniformity looked pretty good too

Hey guys. Were can i find Nitra's picture settings? I need to calibrate my D7000 when it gets here and I've read that his setting are pretty good. Any idea what page that might be on? Thanks in advance.

i've done nitras and the OP's and i prefer the OP's movie calibration settings.

I just went with the Tiger Direct bundle on the 55". That seems like a really good deal considering the same TV at Sams Club is almost $2200 after tax with no 3d bluray player and no 3d glasses.

Well it's been a solid week since receiving my 7000 and I dunno but I'd swear that the picture quality has improved somewhat.
Can't put my finger on it but everything looks better -then again St. Patrick's day celebrations are going full tilt and a few Irish coffees in the morning make everything look better...

Also accidentally discovered my old D6420 remote operates the TV. Good for a backup I guess.

do you guys know if hdmi black level is grayed out, what level it defaults to? (referring to watching netflix via smarthub)

also, i did the flashlighting tests i posted above with flying colors, very minimal flashlighting, however when watching netflix and the black loading transitions between screens(not the netflix loading, but prior and after that), i noticed a lot of flashlighting but the backlight seems a lot brighter.

what causes this? does the tv picture switch real quick then switch back to my default setting?

Interesting to see but seems no one reported that 32d5000 doesn't have the perfect 1:1 pixel mapping, I will show on the pictures that horizontal pixel grid is not aligned as on the Samsung LCD devices that were aligned perfectly.

Every setting is made in the PC mode connected to the HDMI/DVI port 1, its tried with the Intel/Nvidia HDMI output on the sandy bridge hd 3000/Nvidia 540m, also it was tried on the pure Nvidia gt7500, also it was tried on the AtiHD4400
And the results were these:


The question would be, were there any service menu option which could shift H-pixel alignment for one or a half of a H-line to align the grid to 1:1 pixelmapping, because the current situation isn't satisfying.

The first red flag for the Samsung changes in the image processing policy were the enabled sharpness settings in the PC mode.
On all previous series including A, B and C versions the sharpness were disabled in PC mode and the pixel grid were aligned to 1:1 in PC mode.

What happen, why Samsung decided to change the things, virtually they made the D series unusable!

I would like to see the other pictures from the users who owns Samsung D series that we could see were the all models in D series doomed or maybe just the D5000.



I'm calling all XXD7000 users to make digital camera photoshots of pixels in PC mode that we check D7000 series is there perfect 1:1 pixel mapping or the pixel grid isn't aligned like on D5000 series.

After calibration, does the extra reddish colors come off peoples faces, giving peoples faces to look more natural? or is it still somewhat red/pink?

You can change the settings while in one of those sources to match your other settings and it will hold.

The behavior you're seeing "swapping modes" is by design. You can't adjust HDMI black levels on a non-hdmi source.

The thing about that is, for me at least, it depends on the source. On the TV cable box the colours change quite a bit depending on what channel one is viewing. One channel the faces look whitewashed and on another they're pretty red. Same thing even on Blu-rays.

I have noticed this too, not particularly with faces, but picture in general. Most channels look amazing, but then channels like FX and some programs on Discovery, like Sons of Guns are faded and not very crisp. This is for Cablevision in NJ. Is this normal?

when it comes to cable television you are unfortunately not going to get the same uniformity as blu ray.

D7000 60 inch version this is the second set the pic is fabulous but I keep loosing my internet connection I have two routers in the house 1 10 feet away in the closet where my equipment is and one up stairs 1 is a n router with wpa2 and the other is a b,g version with wep the other tv did not lose the connection and I never had to input the passwords again however it did have a green line along the edge of the set this one has no green line,but has the network interference error constantly each time I shut the tv off or i just decides to loose the information I have set static's to the tv from both routers, I have tried no encryption to no avail. And not only does it not connect when i turn on the tv and go to smart hub it ask me to go thru the set up each time what gives is this another defective tv or is it just software that can be fixed I have 0021 or what ever is the latest sofar.

So after a few days with my new UN55D7000 I was starting to get frustrated. The picture just didn't look quite right no matter which settings I used. The picture was over contrasty, very noisy and overs sharpened. After racking my brain and consulting this forum I realized that all my HDMI devices are running through my Pioneer VSX-1021 receiver. On a hunch I turned off video processing / upscaling on the receiver and voila! The picture is gorgeous! If you're running your video sources through a pioneer receiver I suggest you do the same. What a difference!

Known issue depending on the receiver, they sometimes "clip" necessary data, if you have the option to enable RGB "enhanced" on the AVR turn it on, unfortunately not all of them support the 0-255 color pallet. Also part of the reason the first question I ask anyone that has issues "Are you connected to an AVR".
Denon used to be a safe bet for support of RGB enhanced, unfortunately they've removed it from their lower end models the last 2 years, if you're even in the market for a new AVR make sure it's got this option.

I browsed through the thread and didnt notice this brought up, sorry if I missed it.

I noticed on some fast action with small objects (tennis for example), the ball gets jittery and almost has a tail behind it when being hit back and forth. Is this normal with LED? Is there a setting to make this look better? Thanks.

Can be a few causes, might be some conversion in your chain with sports they are generally provided in 720p,, if you're viewing in 1080I, this can be the issue. The source might also be getting converted between the source and your cable box.
To help make sure your box I is outputting in native mode. LED motion plus can also assist.
