Yes, there is way to 100% verify when your Samsung TV was fab'ed. When you register your TV in Samsung.com, the site will ask to enter the serial numbers, after that it will show the date when your TV of was fab'ed.

Mine was on February 12th 2012.

Question: For some reason when in the dynamic or standard picture mode....certain settings seem "blocked out". It will not let me adjust the "advanced settings". These are "grayed out" and I cannot even access to adjust.

Can someone let me know how to adjust this? Is this an issue with the settings?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

If anybody can try out some shooters and rpg's/adventure type games and comment on lag that would be helpful. OR if you guys can even run the lag test like in the input lag thread.

#1, Motion Lighting Off <<<< THIS IS WHAT CAUSES CLOUDING I THINK
This is utterly false, motion lighting causes the LED's to strobe much like old CRT TV's, and it's not a bad thing, anyone who isn't use to an LED TV can turn this on and it will give the visuals of less jerky motions and smoothness overall.
#2, HDMI Black level Low
Nobody in their right mind should ever set this unless there's a reason to set it, you will clip info from the signal, and this should only be applied per source and only if it's needed. There are as of right now only a couple of cable boxes around that have their HDMI black levels off that would justify setting this.
#3, You may need to add a little or less depending on your room.
What?
#4, Brightness 48
This is the highest running value I've seen on these panels, it likely needed to be set this high to make up for the HDMI black level set to low.

I'll repost some settings in my next post with some more details on adjustments, it's been many pages since I've posted them.

Nitra, what's a great explanation of some functions. Great kind of knowlage we need to get. Pls. keep it on with some others function , pls.

PS.
When I connect my external HDD ( 2.5" ) via USB to TV the loading its content is very long. It takes some minutes to see the HDD folders and what is inside of them. It's very frustrating.
The strange is that if I connect the same HDD,in the same way, to my son's TV ( Samsung D5xxx series ) it takes only some... seconds !!!!
What a huge difference it is ! Don't understand why. Do you get it why ?!

That is only partially true, that's when the unit was assembled, the panel may well have been made months before. The production runs for the 2012's were already well underway at that point, and there was little if any continued building of 2011 panels.

That's normal, if you want to use all the options, you either need to use "Movie" or after it's calibrated "cal-day" or "cal-night".

You're right. I just finished reading the whole thread last night and find out about the panel model. Mine is H301. So far so good. No issue.

I've also read your post about the calibration settings. For some reasons when I applied your settings, the picture came out kind of green on the skin tone. Shall I wait until the TV passes the 'break in' period before making any more changes? I just bought this TV a week ago.

Each panel is different, don't adjust the white balance controls, keep them at stock, my values came from the h303, but again each set is different, so it's possible that's whats causing the green blow out.

Got it. I'll try that again tonight.
Thanks for the advice.

This is great TV for the value, too bad the smart hub runs very slow. It's like working on a Pentium 4 PC.

You don't need the expensive ones.

Nitra -

Can you give us a tutorial on 3D glasses? Are they universal (will Samsung units work on other TV or projector brands) or is each manufacturer's technology proprietary?

Thanks,

Andre'

Specifically for Samsung models, the glasses for 2011 and above will work with any set 2011 ~ 2012, prior to that they didn't use Bluetooth, so they wouldn't work.
I don't have first hand experience at this, but my understanding is, the 2011's are proprietary. Near the end of 2011, Samsung, Sony and Panasonic co-founded "Full 3D HD" in an attempt to come up with a universal standard.
http://www.fullhd3dglasses.com/
It should be noted this only applies to glasses and sets made in the 2012 model year, and only active 3D sets (sorry LG).

Thanks Nita - I didn't know a universal standard had been adopted.
I guess this means the 3D portion of the UNXXD7000 is now obsolete?
Do any one have some tips in how to get the gamma right for this particular model? My is H303. My CalMAN and I1 display 2 shows my gamma at 50 and up is really high (1.8). Already max my 10p white balance too

Not necessarily, the 2011 glasses will work on the 2012 Samsung TV's, but not with another brand.

Received my un55d7000 today...........its a 303 panel which a lot of folks complain about. So far i see some light bleed at the extreme corners, but it can be lived with. These TVs are so thin i had to be very careful unboxing. I see no banding which was reported by some owners. Off angle is not bad as many say though.......i was expecting worst to be honest. One thing i don't like though the screen is a bit more reflective than i thought it would. Another concern i have is i hooked up my ps3 to it but all i am getting is sound no picture, but i have tried other sources that work. Kudos to Nitra he has been very helpful in his posting.
I read a lot before pulling the trigger on this one, even though i was more geared towards the Sony 929 model from all the reviews i saw. As you all know Sony has began to price themselves out of the range of ordinary folks like me with their UPP, so a Sammy is always a better deal price wise to me.

Your PS3 does not recognize the new HDMI output since it is coming from a 2D HDMI standard to a 3D HDMI standard. Connect the Composite cables and HDMI at the same time and your PS3 will output to the Composite. Then use the Video setup to match your new TV.

I picked up my UN60D7050 (Costco packaging) a week ago. Interestingly enough, it came with a 301 panel and so far I'm very happy with it. Of course, I haven't read this entire thread to know if there is anything of concern with this older panel. Ignorance is bliss I guess! I do agree that it is quite reflective, so much so that I will probably install a felt curtain in the room behind my viewing area to cut out the outside light.

I'm hooked up to DirecTV and a 3D Panny blue ray player for now. I'm in heaven as I'm sure you are!

I haven't had a chance to try the other settings yet but the biggest issue I have with the set is backlight bleeding through almost constantly. Is there anything I can do about this from a settings selection, am I going to get the same thing if I take it back and get another one?

Also, COSTCO dropped the price of it $300 this weekend, I took my receipt in and they put the $300 on my credit card almost no questions asked. So I really don't want to return it unless I absolutely have to...

Looks like I need to go by Costco and see if I can get $300 back. I bought mine two weeks ago. Might as well give it a shot! Thanks for the info!

Does Costco have a un46d7000 version for sale also?

- Thanx

Hi, I just received my UN55D7000 today and for some reason I'm not getting any sound over HDMI; just picture. I'm running Windows Media Server, which I used with my prior monitor (a Pioneer plasma), with the same HDMI cable and it worked fine. I've tried all the HDMI inputs on the set and although all of them display video, I've got no sound with any of them. (I can hear sound when using the "audio test" menu function and also when using the standard TV/coax input).

Anything obvious that I might be overlooking? All suggestions appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike
One thing would be to try another input. But I also want to say there's something in the menu to disable audio over HDMI. Most TV's have that option, thought I can't remember about this one.

I got this TV last week and one thing i noticed was severe clouding on all 4 corners of the screen (round patches). BTW i have the H303 panel.. I wanted to know if there was a fix for this or atleast a way to reduce this. I have not tried 3D yet on this tv .. but i wanted to know.. does clouding get worse with more use or is it the other way round? How much does this affect the overall viewing quality? I only notice it when the screen is dark/black.. but it is quite noticable when the screen is dark/black..

I have read on other forums that rubbing the screen with microfiber cloth help reduce clouding..can someone validate this? to me it does not sound like it would work..

any input would be helpful othewise this TV will have to go back and i will probably settle for 55LW5600.
That sounds more like backlight bleed than clouding to me, I see a very distinct backlight square on my 55d7000 in dark scenes and I'm considering whether I can live with it or not...

Good luck, should be no problem at all if you bring your receipt. They should be able to look up your CC if you no longer have it tho.

Turn the backlight down, use 8, also use the ECO sensor, set it to bottom out at 5.
These sets have a breakin period,it gets better between week 3 and 4, rubbing it does help to a point, but most can be resolved keeping the backlight at a reasonable level.

You might need to edit the default output device, right click your speaker icon, go to playback devices, and make sure the HDMI is your default device.

Was that the 60" or 55" that was discounted $300?
55, they don't carry any other sizes of the 7000 near me that I know of, they had the 6000 series in smaller.

Ok thanks. I picked up the 60" here in Dallas. Still might be worth a trip down to see if they changed that price as well.
