That is very good news indeed. Do you find the 3D picture brighter than the 2010 models?

Any comments on the LCD remote control or the built-in WiFi?

Actually, the page above that talks about the touch remote doesn't specifically mention the 51" model; so it is probably only included in the larger D6500 models.

Do you notice a buzzing sound when the sound is off like with the C7000s?

And what are the differences between the D6500s and D7000s?

Do you have your 6500 mounted? I am using the stand it came with and it has a slight lean back that I can't seem ti get fixed. I'm wondering if it is just the weight of the TV. Also, the link that was listed also said that the 6500 has a built in Web Browser. I hope you didn't get your hopes up for that because that only comes in the 8000 series

Anyway you can post a picture of a profile view of your set? I have taken the stand off and re-pieced it together multiple times now. The lean back isn't enough to notice when you are looking at it straight on, but it definitely tilts back a couple of degrees when you are looking at it's profile. I dont know if it is something to be concerned about being that is probably at an 85 degree angle, but if yours is a perfect 90, I want to make sure I am not harming the set

I was interested in buying one if these until I called Samsung and was informed that they no longer support checkerboard mode on their new plasmas.
Most people don't know or care but for those who do, I thought I'd mention it.

That's very interesting.
I was told that all the yet to be officially released new plasma TVs did not support checkerboard mode.
I asked it it was official and I was informed that is in fact official.
I will now call them back and inform them that your set does support it and ask for an explanation.

Two phone calls to Samsung support resulted in two entirely different answers.
Nothing official but it seems all the new Samsung Plasmas do still support all the additional 3D modes that the other companies do not support.

I'm getting the PN64D8000.

Question to all those who have brought home a 6500 set. I was using the 3D on my 51D6500, with content coming from Time Warner On Demand. To configure the 3D, the directions tell you to use the Over/Under 3D processing to convert the video to 3D. When I ran the 3D, the very top bar of the TV was showing video that should have been located on the bottom of the screen. I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem, and if this a video processing issue of the Time Warner set top, or is this a video processing issue from the 6500? If it is the TV I will exchange it before my return policy is up.

(I dont know why the picture is uploading rotating, but the line that runs down the left side of the screen, is really the top of the TV)

The 3D still looks correct and you still get 98% of the 3D experience, there is just a bar hovering on the top of the screen that is in 2D and should be at the bottom of the screen instead of the top

3D is brighter on mine for sure.


Mine buzzes. PN59D6500.

Other then the buzzing how do you like the 59? I saw it on sale with a starter pack and was thinking about buying it.

It's pretty good. Buzz isn't a huge impact but mine is going back for another one this weekend. I had a string of stuck pixels show up. They disappeared but one, dead in the center.

I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on the 59. Just a little hesitant cuz I do t know if I want to go active 3d or go a passive route.
