All my computers are on windows 7 and all three of my receivers show up as network devices when browsing the network, so there must be some problem with the app. It is the official Onkyo app.

I haven't tried Onkyotroller because it looks like crap and the free version appears to be crippled of some features.

Well, the free version has more features than the official version, but it does not have auto detect. The stupid thing Onkyo did with the iOS version is they only do auto detect for the 2011 models, so if it's not detected, or on the internal list on the app, you are SOL. I find it hard to believe the Android version is missing this model. From what you said earlier, both receivers are on the same network? Both wired?

See if there are some free uPNP detection app's for Android, I have a few for iOS, so they probably exist for your platform. Use one and browse and see if you see your receiver. If you do, then it's the app screwing up.

Correct, everything is wired and on the same network. All the network-based features work perfectly on the 609 as well, it just can't be found on my android for whatever reason.

I'll have to give the Onkytroller version a try. Maybe that will work.

Is it normal to get slight interference when using the menus on the 509? I get white dots and dotted lines appearing and disappearing just as quickly. It seems to happen more when i navigate the menu. I don't get any interference when i'm watching stuff, just when i'm in the menus.

Hi flyingbig, it shouldn't but suggest trying a different HDMI cable (from receiver to tv). By the way, did setting PS3 Deep Color solve your other issue?

hi,

Could any owner of 609/709/809 check supported voltage of their units?
I'm interested, will units sold in USA will work in Europe. In manual it's written:

AC outlet voltages vary from country to country.
Make sure that the voltage in your area meets the
voltage requirements printed on the unit's rear panel
(e.g., AC 230 V, 50 Hz or AC 120 V, 60 Hz).

Is there 230V label printer or maybe 120V/230V switch?

Thanks.

The free version won't auto detect, but you can manually enter the IP, which is a big plus over Onkyo's offering. Doesn't the Android marketplace have a try-before-you-buy thing too, so you can try the paid version?

Is anyone else out there using the 609 with the Onkyo Android app? I know the 609 works with Onkyo's iOS app.

Android has a 15 minute return window.

I'm at work right now norcis so I can't physically inspect my TX-NR609, however, according to the Onkyo Owner's Manual, it shows power supply only at 120 volts, 60 hz.

So I have my 609 set up with it Hardcoded to CBL\\SAT and HDMI set to ON and I still can not get it to pass thru while in STBY. Any ideas?

@rworne Love the update. iPad2 hasn't lost connection in 24 hours (knock on wood). Thanks. Any chance of having the option of removing Source buttons (ie, AM\\FM Tuner since I never listen to the radio)

I am considering buying the 609 but I had a question. All of my devices that will be plugged into it run through HDMI, except one, my older model Xbox 360 that runs through component. Will I have to run component cables from the component out on the receiver to the TV or can it carry the component signal through the HDMI out?

I don't know if the 609 will pass non-HDMI video input to a HDMI TV; I know my NR509 will not. But my girlfriend's Denon 1912 will (I believe), so some receivers will do that.

Hi TennVols16, the NR609 will upconvert component video to HDMI out ... SR309 and NR509 will not.

Will it work the other way - convert HDMI in to component out? I have a friend who might need that type of capability.
no.. it (609) will only convert to hdmi from all sources - it will not go the other way. In fact, component or any other non-hdmi source will not show the on screen display.

The receiver will not down convert from HDMI to Component video. Have your friend look into something like HDFury (2 or 3) or ViewHD.

I don't know about the 809, but the 807 would output and up convert over component - but I don't know how it handled HDMI with its HDCP related baggage.

Yes thanks. I haven't played that many games but i did make a point of running the game every now and again with no problem.

In regards to the other issue i have since switched the hdmi-out cable and it made no difference. Is it possible one of the hdmi-in cables is causing the problem?

Not sure if anyone has answered this for you yet, I`m trying to catch up in the thread. If you have an old fat PS3 then this statement is correct, BUT if you have a slim PS3 then this is not the case. I like to see the Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD MA light up on my reciever. You can correct this by following the steps in ths thread. http://hd.engadget.com/2009/04/21/hd...with-your-ps3/

BUY NEW, the AMAZON website HAS VERY GOOD PRICES ON NEW STUFF, WITH EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE AND RETURN POLICIES!

The correct model #is, TX-SR309, It is ONKYO's only, non network receiver.

Just curious why you are so pro amazon? Do you work for them? I bought a refurb from accesories4less and have had zero problems with it. I had never heard of accesories4less until reading around for a new receiver and saw that they are recommended quite often on this forum. I had originally ordered a 608 and changed my mind and sent them an email. The next morning a rep called me, not email, called me and made the change for me. The best part is I got the receiver in three days, very fast shipping.

I`m not saying I dont recommend Amazon, but I have to say that I was really impressed with my experience from accesories4less and will do business with them in the future.

Installed the Onkyo wireless UWF-1 today using the router push-button link up. Works great!

I have it on my Android and it works fine. It auto detects and the on/off works as well.

So no one can point me to how to set up audio out to TV via HDMI with AVR in STBY?

Under Hardware Setup> HDMI:
RIHD=OFF
HDMI through=CABL\\SAT
Audio TV Out= ON
Lip Sync=ON

What am I missing? What I've done as a work-around is to run a coaxial audio out of the cable box into the AVR and when I need TV speakers only, I use the audio select on the ORemote to select coaxial I can now listen to every channel on TV speakers ONLY BUT I still have to leave the AVR on.

HELP!!

I just want the AVR in STBY and control everything via the TV and Cable box.

TIA

Hi ftboomer, turn HDMI Control (RIHD) to ON.

Here is how mine is set and it works fine.

HDMI Control(RIHD) Off
HDMI Through CBL/SAT
Audio TV Out Off
Audio Return Channel is grayed out

Lip Sync On

The Audio TV Out has to be off in order to prevent the 609 from sending the audio to the TV when the 609 is on. That may have been your problem.

Maybe your tv only accept 2CH/PCM. Try going into cable box audio output menu and select 2CH/PCM.

I have the 609. The remote is not working. I was in Hardware Setup and arrowing through Remote ID. I believe I arrowed over to 3. From that point on the remote would not work. There is a note on page 56 of the manual that says: If you do change the AV receiver's remote ID, be sure to change the remote controller to the same ID...otherwise you won't be able to control it with the remote controller.

Not really sure what the problem is. Thanks for your help.

I have the 609. When I first programmed the receiver, I was able to get sound with NETFLIX. Then, I changed a lot of things. Now, I can not get sound with NETFLIX. Thanks for your help with this.
