I just sent Samsung an email and got a reply that they were not aware of the fluctuations, but would talk to the engineers. Hopefully others that have this issue will email too. I haven't even gotten the set, but I loved the picture at the store beside this issue, so if it get's fixed I´m buying.

Ok, I ran a tape today. It's 13 feet from the TV to the couch. I watch a lot the TV a lot from my kitchen, which is probably 18+ feet away. I don't have reclining furniture, I just like it there. I'm 6'5" and so it's not as high as you would think for me. Also, keep in mind, the TV is really only used for general TV watching, entertaining guests (while we are doing other things such as cooking) and kids. My serious movie watching is done in my media room which has a 61" PDP at about 5-6 feet. In that room the TV is set at normal height (recommended height) and I find it uncormfortable as I recline and then have to tilt my head down.

BTW, I spent 5 years watching a 43" from that distance so 59" seems HUGE.

The center channel can be heard fine, even in other rooms. It is a KEF T101. Check it out on their website. I'd like to have gotten the KEF T301 but I also wanted to play the kinect in this room. I couldn't really have both.

Last thing...the TV in this room with the pictures is as much about the way it looks, i.e. presentation, as it is about performance. Actually more so. This is the great room in my house that overlooks my negative edge pool.

Thanks. As you can see, I do a lot of the work myself which saves a lot of money and allows me to stretch my dollar so to speak. If I had to pay somebody to install everything, there is no way I could afford to do half of the stuff I've done so far. The cabling on this project alone probably would have cost me a bunch of dough.

Out of nowhere tonight two green lines ran from top to bottom on my 59d8000! I did a factory reset and they were gone. Should i be worried enough to exchange it?

A PN59D8000 at that price, that's not a good deal.

So does anyone have a Monoprice mount for their set? I'm thinking of getting one just not sure how far my 64d8k will stick out even though they have an 'ultra low profile'.

Under the terms and conditions it says you have to have bought the TV on or after April 24, 2011. I bought mine on April 22nd. Sucks for me, but I scanned my reciept and filled out the form anyway. Hopefully i'll get get the glasses in the mail.

I am trying anyway. The only thing samsung gave me was the bill of lading from the trucking company, fingers crossed

I'm here in Nova Scotia and I called Samsung yesterday the first lady basically told me to go pound sand. I just wanted more of an answer than that so I argued for a bit and then she put on her supervisor. The supervisor explained that that offer was for USA only. I told her the initial press release didn't discriminate based on where we live. She went off phone for a bit and then came back and told me the promotion would be coming to Canada but she wouldn't say when. She also said that where I already have my TV the new Canada promotion likely wont apply to me. She said that the promotion dates have not yet been set but it's likely that the promotion start date likely will have a different start date than the (tv's purchased on or after April 24th in USA) for the Canada promotion. At least it's coming I guess, we can argue about it later.

Same here with the glasses...I made a pic of my receipt and loaded it...I just got my TV like 3 hrs ago and all I can say is WOW!
I can't believe I almost settled for a third world country TV (LG 50PK550)...Thanks TiVoHD for the settings amazing! I'll load pics soon...I'm on firmware 1006, I tried to update but there were no updates available. Does anyone have a higher version firmware?

Looks like this has been addressed with latest firmware.

This is a line from the changelog on the new firmware for D8000 (T-GAP8DEUC-1012.2 UK version; should be in the US sooner than later)
