I grabbed the PN59D6500 but wanted to stop by here and personally thank you for taking the time with a lot of these TV's, hooking them up, calibrating and testing them for the excitement of the community. This is not something we should expect due to time, money and just general resources to accomplish this but a lot of us are just generally grateful regardless of interest in the set.
I seen you pose the question of a way to gather additional funds for further testing and thought I might offer a humble suggestion. With my 6500 I can see the TV has a lot of potential which I will spend a ton of time trying to bring out. I thought one thing that might be cool is if say Chad Calibrated a set and provided his user menu adjusted settings with color scales and graphs as opposed to just the nitty gritty service menu stuff. All panels are different and no settings would be perfect for every set with in the same line but this would get owners closer to reference and in my opinion for those that will not be paying for the excellent service of a professional calibration would find this an excellent advantage of ordering from you. Since it would be silly to expect people not to share the settings, I was thinking that these type of settings would be shared to future owners of say X amount of preorders. That way when the cats out of the bag settings wise you would have still secured enough sales to warrant the effort.
Also, I would gladly pitch in money to a paypal fund for reference calibration from just menu colors and settings for my set as mentioned above. I would love to have a more dialed in place to start. You get enough users interested and maybe that can help as well.
If this sounds dumb I apologize but you asked!!!
