Listen guys. I own both. If anyone is serious about any questions call me David 2483791876
post #392 of 5052
When you say you have both TV's which ones are you referring to?
And why would you put your phone number out there like that?

Do you live in Nigeria?
First off if you guys read this forum or past posts. Own Pn59c8000 and 59d8000. And I live in Michigan which is not near Nigeria I might add. Have you been there though?? Anyways don't given my phone number to help other people who are trying to make a decision.

I do have bad news though. Went with a friend to purchase his Pn59d8000. The manager who is very tech savvy and has been all over the world to tv expos. Told us that we should purchase the pn58c8000 over the d series because he had word that the pn59d8000 over 200 hrs on it loses alot of the blacks because of the LCE. He said reason for this is samsung put out this tv to gradually over time become more natural looking therefore decreasing blacks because of LCE. Sucks cuz I own the 58c but just purchased the 59d. He claims that 58c is the best plasma that samsung has put out and the changes the made to d series took a step back.

yes it is. Its called Deinterlacing and needs to be done. In the end, a 1080p display will always display everything at 1080p.

I agree!

Thanks for reminder of which TV's you have David and graciously giving us the option to call for help.
I currently have the 63C8000 but really feeling like taking it back to BB due to 3D options and wanting more current supported technology. Had to buy the tv with the BluPlayer and 3D glasses that are hard to find. 3D is ok but something not totally needed for my happyness. Plus my eyes water when playing video games in 3D.

David can you post some side by side pics to show us difference in PQ, Blacks, etc.
Is the 3D performance better on the D model?

I would hate to get the D model now with the latest bit of information just given about 200hrs shelf life for blacks. If that is the case they should be ready to give a lot of rebates or refunds. Chadbe sure to verify this in your testing.

Lol. Wow, that's sounds like a load of "desperate to sell old inventory" c**p if I've ever heard any.

Yeah...I gotta figure out how that works. For some reason, my wife prefers a smaller display (like 40")...me on the other hand...I'd take the 64" without hesitation.

Maybe I could have described it better but I did say it does the pixel mapping at 1:1. But it's not technically 1080P because that entire picture is only being refreshed every other cycle (30 times per second, not 60 times per second) as that is what the input signal refresh rate is.

Obviously i wasn't to clear either . Deinterlacing "converts" 1080i to 1080p and the image is displayed progressively (in full frames) in 60p, 30p or 24p depending on material and deinterlacer if the source was 60 half images per second.

Not sure I understood the problem? Is the LCE in the D8000 series the problem? If so, why did he not recommend the D7000 since it doesn't have LCE and last years model ( C8000) does not include "Skype" or the other improvements that this years models have! Not sure if his statement: "C8000 best TV Samsung made" has the ring of truth to it?
Just my 2 cents worth.

This is amazing "warning". I can't believe this. Me and a friend of mine sitting watching my pn59d8000 and he says to me this tv looks shorter I said what you talkin bout. He said let's go look at the pn58c8000 that you put in your room. So we measured the tv vertically and it's 3 in half inches shorter. What the ****. He was right it is shorter top to bottom but inch longer side to side. What the.....

Obviously you were measuring the bezel not the viewable screen area...

Can we fast-forward to a D-nice review of these things, please?

Hell, at this point someone ought to measure the 51" screen to be sure it isn't actually 50 inches.

I think Samsung just repackaged the C series and changed the letter to D.

lol...seems like everything Samsung claimed would be fixed or improved was either made worse or stayed the same

If you're up to your ears with ridiculous crap and it's only March, I don't know if you Samsung guys are ready for your panels to start winning awards and shoot-outs.

I'm looking at a PN59D8000 to replace my buzzing PN58C8000. Can someone please let me know how many inches from the top of the bezel the mounting screws are located on the back? Thanks!

you will have to wait for the shoot out more than likely.
D-Nice has never had an official review of a Samsung Plasma TV.

besides.... the D8000 51" is a flop. The C8000 58" has better black levels and is a 2010 model

Plus.... the most important improvement we where looking for never happened like people from Samsung said it would.
The old Cinema Smooth Bug!

oh well.... 2012 will be the year of the plasma....
the year that the best Plasma TV's will finally be equal the best 2008 Plasma TV's.

The only chance 2011 has is the VT30.... so we will see

Sounds fishy to me, but if I get a chance I'll check it.

Chad,

Not sure if you're aware but people are reporting floating blacks on the 2011 Samsungs (notably koffas who owns both C7000 and D7000 models). Are you able to re-check this as well, if you get the chance?

i have the 63c8000 and and the only real issues i have are the line bleeding and 3d sync. I know the d8000 fixes the sync issues but does it still have the line bleeding issues?
Youtube is full of videos of the LED D7000/D8000 series, but no videos of the Plasma D8000, if anyone wants to make a video please....

What video would you like? Just got it setup last night and playing with everything on it this morning. Looking for picture settings now.

Just for the record, I will

1. Not dwell on black levels
2. Not run break-in slides
3. Post pictures when I get it set up
4. Enjoy the biggest panel I have ever owned.

I'd agree with all your four points except point no. 2, at least for the first few hours. Please just run break-in slides for the initial 100-200 hours. Please do so because there's little harm that can come from it except some sacrifice of time and electricity. Just make sure to give the TV some breaks during the 200 hours or at least make sure it never gets too hot during the break-in.

Resistance to burn-in or IR seem to vary from set to set even within the same model range. Evidence of this is all over the forums, so you don't want to be one of those with a set that is very prone to burn-in during the first 200 hours and ruin your TV for good. Then you'll have to wait around for it to be replaced, assuming your retailer allows you to return the TV for said problem at all.

First off I own both 2010 and the new d800. No floating blacks at all on either. One huge deal is no mjc on pn59d8000 and watching sports it has a problem keeping up and sucks cuz on my c8000 I can put mjc to high takes care of it but with 59d no option. What f is that???
