A question about Audyssey and speaker choice A (music) or B (HT)

I have an Onkyo TX NR 3008 and am running Klipsch in a 9.1 configuration.

I ran Audyssey several times and now am given either speaker choice A which is a dedicated 2/3 channel system using my main RF7'2 and some performance from my center speaker (rc64) or speaker choice B which runs my RF 82 wides and everything else except my RF 7's. My dual CHT18.T (run off one amp/preout work in both settings.

My question is, why does the Audyssey not allow all 9 speakers to run at once in any configuration? My Emotiva XPA-5 arrived DOA so maybe it is because the 3008 senses that running all would overload it or is that just the way the system works?

It sounds spectacular in any event, but I am curious if it is possible for all 9 speakers to work at once.

Thanks.

Yes, all 9 can work at once. It's all in the setup and has nothing to do with Audyssey. Audyssey will EQ all the speakers, but as far as the speakers that are used, your options are:

Up to 9.2 with only "speakers A"
up to 7.2 with either speakers A or B

Typically, you would use speakers A and B when you want surround for movies, and use a different set of fronts for stereo music. For example, I could see for stereo music using the RF-7s as speakers B, and for movies using the 82s with center and surrounds as speakers A.

In your case, you need to select "not use" for speakers B.

Audyssey will automatically detect which speakers are connected and EQ accordingly.

They key here, is for 9.x, you have to use speakers A and have speakers B set to "not use"
