Is uneven backlighting inherent to all LCDs, edge lit LEDs?

The situation where if you have a black screen you see how one back light will generate more light and then fade a little to the sides of its direct path...

so it looks like there are blotches or clouds of light..

is that how it is for all these TVs?

Is there any that are perfectly uniform?

Some are worse than others, but after saying that I think it depends on how hard you look. I know that my edge-lit LED - a 2009 Sammy B6000 - has minor brightness uniformity defects, but in fact I only see them when the PVR is booting up and there's no image. Once there's something to watch in a lit room, it's not visible. If I liked to watch spooky dark movies in an unlit room I might be able to see something but I don't so I don't. And judging by sales numbers, I'm fairly typical of HDTV buyers.
