Sucker Punch to get an R Rated Extended Bluray - Page 7

just watched it twice.

i think this is one of the best movies i've seen this year.

very different and creative. really like how he portrays the layers
of fantasy. don't understand why so many people dislike it.

Me neither. My mom even said the same thing.

Finally saw this over the weekend. Not a very good film at all, definitely won't be getting a second viewing.

I had never seen this movie, but I have seen most of zacs other works, but I went out on a limb and bought it.

I must say, this movie is quite good.

I've heard all the banter about how superficial it is, I don't make it out so. I found the story had good depth and substance, and the entire journey was very rewarding.

props to Zac for taking movie making to the next level.

I really like the proverbial father figure and his nuggets of wisdom passed onto the team as a father would do so to his own daughters, the genesis of the movie.

sure these were not new concepts and they also weren't pounded home as eye opening realities, but they were instead spouted in inkling of an eye, almost as an after thought, as the teams were talking on their missions... Dont write checks with your mouth that your arse can not cash... If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything... good words to be sure.

In fact I found the whole "Empowerment" refreshing, while I am sure many thought this move was exploitative, it was in fact nurturing and a very very sad story.

Men giveth, and men taketh away... use your powers to the best of your natural abilities.

i also really liked the soundtrack to the movie. fit quite well.

first time i can remember anyone using tomorrow never knows

ya me too.

wonder if adding to the movie will make it better or just dilute it.
it already is very well edited and seems right just the way it is.

Not horrible, but not great. There are some great visuals and action sequences, it just loses me a bit in that

apparently Babydoll can talk to and conspire with the other girls, but never mentions anything to the psychiatrist; and that a lobotomist wouldn't review what he's going to do with whoever runs the place, and the psychiatrist, before scheduling procedures

I think I would have preferred the steampunk-Nazi war movie than putting it in the trappings of the asylum story.

I like the DC...

It's just a shame that the true, real ending will probably never make it to home video:

From Zack Snyder: "The very end of the movie was: you see Sweet Pea steal a dress from a clothesline, then after she's lobotomized and Blue says, Do you remember me? Take her downstairs, and then you see Sweet Pea getting on the bus, then after her getting on the bus, it cuts back to Babydoll in the basement and that whole scene happens of the cops taking him away. When he shines the flashlight on her, she gets up, and the camera dollies in on her and then goes around her head - and you see that she's on a stage in the theater and she signs O-o-h Child at the very end. After that, all the dead girls come out and they sing together, then the curtain closes. That's the end."

...Cause this is what I would want to see.

The movies ending definitely feels a bit limp compared to what came before. That ending would have helped enormously in that respect.

I hate to nitpick, but they weren't Nazis. The Germans in WWI were fighting under Kaiser Wilhelm, not Hitler.

It's one of my pet peeves, sorry.

Dang, you're right of course - don't have a WWI setting very often in movies or games, so I just said Nazi out of habit.

you're saying this was the ending in the dc, but most people will never see
it unless they buy it as nf and bb won't carry the dc?

The DC was not and most likely will never be released. What we have is the extended cut, not the director's cut. That ending I mentioned above was just the original ending intended by Snyder himself. I'm sure he would have liked to be able to go back to the editing room and make his proper cut, but the film didn't make enough money so WB said no I guess. The extended cut, which I own, doesn't have this ending.

too bad it won't get made and too bad most people don't get this gem of a film.

i think it's his best work to date

I know what you mean. For every movie based on WWI we get like 400 based on WWII, which is too bad because I find them both equally fascinating.

Agreed, would love to see more movies from that period.

Just watching again now, did not occur to me before but does the high rollers job take place right at the beginning? Before we first see the club version of the asylum? Sorry to be cryptic, posting on the phone so no spoiler tags.

Besides being a fantasy version of events, most of the movie is a flashback to the events leading up to his arrival.

Wait so in this version of the end Sweet Pea is lobotomized??? Everything else I like but that doesn't make sense to me. I thought she was narrating the whole thing and is thought to be the one telling the story, not Babydoll. I've only watched it once so go easy on me

Looking at it, before we see sweetpea in the chair on stage we see the needle going towards babydoll's eye, I read that as everything from this point is in her head

Just finished watching this for the second time. My wife was very interested in the story but dozed off in one of the dream sequences, I think she was more confused that out of all the girls I liked Blondie the best because I have a thing for butt chins

So I watched the extended and agree that it does add some worthy elements to the movie. I enjoyed the song sequence and felt the end discussion between Babydoll and "the high roller" added some worthy considerations to ponder. In the end though I came away with a couple possible scenarios.

A. Babydoll is lobotomized in the beginning and the rest of the movie is just her dream. B. Sweetpea sees Babydoll before being lobotomized herself and after being lobotomized dreams the rest of the movie that ultimately results in her freedom. C. Sweetpea narrates because she did escape, the dream was hers, Babydoll was her angel.
The problem with all of these theories is that there is evidence in the film that support and discredit each one, back to square on.

Target has this for $14.99 this week, I decided to pick it up.

Scenario C is mine too.
...regardless of the 'ending we've never seen'
