Just got a 43d490 and it won't go to movie over hdmi2 from the Xbox only entertainer and standard. My 51d490 does it with my ps3. Any suggestions.
Not to sure man, someone smarter will answer you, but my question is when watching movies why warm 2 over warm 1 i feel warm 2 is a yellowish feel as warm 1 is more accurate colours

thats strange, as my D450 will only go into PC mode on HDMI1 (Entertain and Standard being the only two modes avaiulable in PC mode)

Check that the HDMI2 port isnt called "PC" (press source button, scroll to HDMI2 > tools button > rename > anything other than PC)

No it says hdmi2. Hdmi1 and 2 are the only ones hooked up but them and pc and tv are highlighted.

Ok, I have a couple of questions regarding Cinema smooth, I have the 43D490 and I was curious if I could access it the same way as any other model through the service menu, and this won't do anything like void the warranty, will it? And last but not least, will it affect 3D playback negatively?
Took me some trial and error to figure out only hdmi 1 was pc compatible.

Pretty stupid. Good thing it was easily addressed once I got it sorted out.

Hi guys. First post. I'm looking to get this TV when my tax refund comes in a week or two. I've got a question.

Has this model really been discontinued or was the salesman at Best Buy trying to make me purchase the TV on the spot when he told me that?

He said they only had 3 left in the back and couldn't get anymore.

he's telling you the truth, all the new models will be coming out over the next few months so what they have left of last years models is probably all they have/will get until the new model's for this year arrive.

Hi all,

Quick question. How is this set for gaming? Both PS3 and 360. I'm a big online shooter fan and concerned about input lag. What's the lag like on this set?

Thanks in advance!

There is no noticeable input lag. Especially with game mode turned on. This set can handle whatever needs you have, especially in gaming and movies

Ok I called Samsung support, last evening, about my lack of 3D & a repair tech is coming this Friday, 10 FEB., to take a look at it. I am surprised at the speed of the response. I hope they can actually fix it.

I'm wondering too if this is supposed to be normal (I can't really eliminate it with calibration).

Same with me I didn't notice till I walked within a couple feet of it. Otherwise I am very happy with the PQ, it's much better than my 4 year old Samsung LCD that it replaced.

I also did the 550 hack to benefit from the cinemasmooth option, and it is a significant improvement! Blu-rays are now judder free, travellings are smoooooth!!! No reason whatsoever not to use this little trick, but write down your settings beforehand, as accessing the service menu resets your TV completely!
Sooo...how are people doing this cinema smooth hack? Like..how do you get in to the service menu and what other benefits can you get from the service menu?

with TV powered off press these buttons in sequence on the remote

info - menu - mute - power

the TV will power on and after a moment go into the service menu. Select the "Option" menu, go down to "Model" and change it for a model in the 550/560 range.

Press power button to exit the service menu.

When you power the tv back up, ALL of your settigns will be reset to defaults, but CinemaSmooth will now be available in the Picture Options menu ONLY for 1080p/24hz inputs.

You could have read back a few pages you know, i wrote all this out before!

Does this hack work on the ps43d490? I've done the hack to model 550 and 560. Also selected the cinema smooth option with the correct ps3 settings that change to 1080p 24htz on the tv, but don't see any differences in the blu ray. Plus with the cinema smooth option the 3d goes fuzzy with negative like colours. Turning cinema smooth off goes back to normal.
Has anyone tried the CinemaSmooth hack on the 51d490 with success? I don't want to try it on my set until I know it works okay. Does 3D still work when you've enabled it?
I tried it on my 51d490 with poor results and turned it off. I do have mine set to be a d7000 and am using the advanced color and 10 point grayscale adjustments with great results.

Interesting that it is only the 43" models... I wonder if they'll have an announcement for the 51" models soon...

I have a PS51D491 Model (asian) and there's a new FW (jan 2012). Is it really a must to update firmwares? Coz i really am not experiencing any problems (knock on wood) as of the moment. Btw, i purchased mine last December 2011.

I tried this, and I was unable to find a D550. I think I was able to change it to a PB or PC560 but it didnt offer me CinemaSmooth in my picture options when I had my blu ray player going. Any ideas about what Im doing wrong?
Its under film mode and blu ray must be playing at 24hz make sure the feature is turned on via bluray machine then in picture film mode cinema smooth should become available
