Well, what can you tell us about the back lighting? Do you notice clouding or bleeding? And have you tried gaming on it? Thanks

The edge LED lighting is better than I expected, I was going into it expecting bad uniformity. But its pretty much just like a CCFL LCD, there is a little extra light in the bottom of mine, but its only barely noticeable to me on pure black scenes with all the lights out. Of course on the topic of blacks its almost like a CCFL in that regard too, the blacks aren't amazing by any stretch.

I play a lot of games on it and the input lag is imperceptible to me.

One thing I noticed in 520/720 reviews is mention of wobble.

But the stand swivels in the horizontal plane so of course it will wobble when you turn it or shake it.

I never notice any wobbling unless I am moving it or pushing on it...but I think that's to be expected, no?

Also I just tested my KDL-46EX520 vs a CRT because there was no way that it had 66ms of lag on game mode, I would definitely notice it, and there isn't.

the difference between my CRT and the KDL-46EX520 was usually 20-30ms but I did get a couple pics which showed 40ms max while in game mode hooked to a PC.

Finally a new thread. I picked up one of these (40") as an A10 optical block replacement and am quite happy with it.

Anyone know if the information alerts can be disabled? I have a USB drive permanently attached and seeing that alert every time I start the display is annoying.

Can you share some of those pics with us?

note they are not pretty and I only did this to satisfy myself

CRT LCD LAG

368 338 30

076 046 30

558 528 30

190 150 40

that's from these pics, which I picked out more or less random, most of all my pics are ~30ms

But, even assuming 40ms worst case that's ~40% less than the review stated, and at the more frequently captured 30ms its ~55% less

sbutters, thanks. I'm about to pull the trigger on the 32EX523 (wifi built-in) and will be using this heavily as a PC monitor. It has almost everything I need - but I couldn't find anything on 4:4:4 handling.

Does your set handle 4:4:4 chroma subsampling?

Thanks in advance.

I never figured out how to test it, if someone can tell me how I will test for 4:4:4 accuracy

It's very easy. All you need is a camera with decent macro zoom. Detailed instructions are here (Scroll down to Q11)

Q11) How do I check my display for 4:4:4 chroma sampling?

The "scientific" way is to use a small segment from the Belle-Nuit test chart, which can be found here: link. (If you want the full Belle-Nuit test chart, you can find it here: link). Make sure the image is at 100% zoom, and with the help of a magnifying glass (or the macro zoom of a camera, or if you have really good eyes) make sure the columns of red pixels look exactly like it does in this pic: link. If it does, then you have proper 4:4:4 sampling.

The "quick and dirty" way is to use this simple color chart: link. Pay close attention to the Red and Magenta columns. With a 4:4:4 capable display, the "Red" and "Magenta" text should be perfectly crisp and clear.

As a point of reference, this result is ideal link

and this is the Sony EX500 which fails the test link

Pics would be great and I'm sure would help other users as well. Thanks!

Just picked up this TV...anyone else having any problems with it? I might exchange or return it soon...the images just seem very blurry during movement. Backlight bleeding is pretty bad too. Just trying to gauge how common the issues are with this TV...doesn't seem like many people own it, though. It has fantastic picture quality otherwise..

I have the 40 inch EX523.

I don't have any problems with blurring during motion, and black light bleeding isn't really that bad, on my set its a bit uneven in the bottom L and R corners but not bad by any stretch even with a white box in the middle of the screen and all lights out.

(I haven't forgot the 4:4:4 test, I have the slides and stuff ready, but my AVR is having technical difficulties and I need to find my camera.

Cheers to that
I've started to like my LD450 very much now, it's growing on me and it looks unlikely that I will return it. Still would be good to hear your results!

I just bought the 32ex523 yesterday and it will be delivered next week. I was looking for a TV for the bedroom to replace a Samsung LN32A450 that got fried during a recent storm in our area. The repair cost was going to be $370 so I just opted to get a better TV. This is for my bedroom so I didn't want to go larger than a 32". This was about the only TV in it's price range that had built in WiFi which is what I wanted as my router is downstairs. I was not able to play around with the TV as my local store could only order it for me, but was wondering if anyone has returned this set or has buyers remorse after getting it. This TV will only be used for watching HD Verizon Fios and for DVD's. The ability to watch Netflix via wifi was also a plus.

hi there, i just bought the 46" model, i receive it tomorrow, but kinda make me sad, judging by this post, that is not a very popular tv, never a good sign

I received information from another forum that there may be a locking pin in the stand preventing me from tilting it and I should remove it. There is no mention of this pin in the manual. I saw none but didn't remove the stand to check it since I have all components wired and connected and don't feel like breaking it down. I really don't need the tilt but was only concerned that I could not do it.

I am very happy with this TV and don't let this influence youer satisfaction. This is a secondary TV for me and the picture quality performs as well as my XBR6 that is several years old.

How do you figure? It's a basic edgeLED-based LCD display with no real outstanding features and no real outstanding flaws.

You'll find that most posts in these forums are about those two things when it comes to display systems.

I've had a 40" for some time now and it's been flawless.
