I owned the V1 (same body + progressive + XLR + bunch of settings). The FX7 looks sexy to my taste, but is tape-based and interlaced-only. I would rather buy the HMC40: same sensor size, about the same sensitivity (i.e. not very good), tapeless, has progressive, accepts XLR mic, costs less.

I have an fx7. I use it for underwater video. It works great. However i agree with ungermann. Unless you shoot underwater and can get a good deal on the camera and underwater housing, I would look for something else.

http://vimeo.com/13148616 this was filmed with a FX-7 i had,the best thing about them is the 20x lens, picture quality is not as good as my canon HV30 which i still have, but being prosumer quite good on cam control, interlaced only is a downside though.

Not sure why are you interested in the FX7.

Post processing will take care of all the complaints in general about this Cam and of course all the other new ones released that I have been posting about on here. Final Cut Pro Studio!! is the best for Me.
Ungermann, you can get the film look from pro software like (Red Giant) that can fit all your needs.

Fake 24p from 60i will never look as good as true 24p. I don't see a point to use this flawed approach when true 24p cameras are available.

Being a semi prosumer cam, it has easy access to the manual controls. However, the FX7 is old, tape based and exceeded by many current cams.

If you want the film look, get something that lets you fully control your depth of field and shoots native 24p. The FX7 does neither.

No real reason to consider this cam unless you are getting a really good price. If you shoot underwater, maybe I'll sell you mine. LOL !!
