hahaha...That's funny. I'm completing my theater as well and had to mount the projector to build the front bulk head. Ended up leaving there to watch some netflix as well on the barewall...lol Been listening to the same music on the little boombox for over a year...

And now that portion of the wall is grayish blue. We're going with a lovely color called "Shore" from Restoration Hardware. My wife popped in to check on progress and declared that she LOVED the color next to the grey of the soffits and black in the ceiling. She's starting to see the end and she likes what she sees! YES!

Hopefully I'll cut my first few MDF panels next week!

Progress has been very swift lately. I'm back in town after a long weekend wedding and then a business trip back to back.

I'm going to rip up the existing carpet this weekend so that the new stuff can come in next week. I have shoved equipment into my rack and hooked it up in an extremely basic fashion so I can enjoy music while I work.

The projector has been getting some casual use while I paint and such but it is still not hung. I've got all the pieces of hardware now to hang it but I still need to run the electrical over to the mounting position.

I've put a base coat on the molding that I'm going to install between the soffits and the ceiling. The molding will be the same grey as the soffits. Once the carpet is up I'm going to paint the existing toe molding the same grey as the soffits also. That molding will be beneath the MDF panels and against the black/grey carpet.

Tonight I painted most of the stairwell leading up to the kitchen. I'm using the same blue as the theatre walls. Hopefully I'll finish that Thursday (another 6PM meeting for work tomorrow... sigh).

Coming along shortly will be outlet replacements. I ordered all the Lutron Midnight decora outlets and screwless wall plates I need for the room and stairwell. While I've got the power off I'm planning to seal off the dozen or so outlets, phone jacks, cable jacks, and other miscellaneous jacks in the room that will be covered by either MDF or acoustic panels.

I've been thinking about the acoustic plan more and more in the past week. There's a new flutter echo in the room that wasn't there before I padded the screen wall. Now that one pair of walls is treated, the other (long wall) pair seem to have free reign to ping back and forth. The echo isn't sustaining or anything but it was surprising.

I'm wondering just how much scattering I'm going to see with the MDF wave wall panels. Those panels are wildly non-parallel so maybe that will work out OK? Fingers crossed but I'm not holding out much hope.

NicksHitachi might pop over to do some more measurements when the new carpet's in. I'm going to slow down on the absorptive wall treatments until I see some new numbers in the room.

I'm working at home today so I decided to work while listening to music down in the theater. The surround speakers just scared the everliving crap out of me! Hahaha!

The Meridian processor does some wacky things when using Ambisonics DSP mode!

Here's what lilmike advised when I asked about power handling of the DVC in the F20:

More in depth in the F20 thread about our convo. Having said alllll that 400W/sub should be a very safe setup for the horns but you will need a high pass. The high pass according to Mike is more to control distortion below Fc(tune of the horn) which in this case is 20Hz. The best solution for that IMO is the MINIdsp which will also take care of EQ.

Do you have a link to this minDSP? I was hoping that the Meridian 568 would let me do this but it apparently won't... low pass only.

I'm going to look into this amplifier. It would be great if I could source one through work but the one you linked to seems like a good deal.

I actually know a guy selling a behringer dsp1000 too on here.... It has built in dsp and would not over power your setup.....

Ill see if he still has it and what price he wants.....

As far as the minidsp make sure to get the balanced version.....

Really...how much "work" is going to be done? I hope your boss isn't reading your thread!

Seriously, I wish I could do that too. Sounds better than a windowless office.

Oh, cool. Let me know about the dsp1000. One box solution > two-box.

PLENTY is getting done, actually. It would be a different story if the projector were on the ceiling, however.

Wired up subwoofer #2 tonight, put a second coat on the stairwell, and tidied. Looks like Sunday will be the carpet pull-up day. :-)

I need to put up some more Linacoustic on the sub faces facing the listener but DAMN, this is a pretty sight!

No problem at all. I'm going to cover it in Linacoustic 2" anyway since they're so massive.

I have! They both work great but I'm only able to listen to one at a time since I haven't received my proper amplifier yet.

I can't believe she sold a classic multipurpose table like that. What was she thinking?

Oh, well maybe she'll get you a little giant ladder as a replacement. ;-)

Looking good my frined, I'll echo Tony's comments, starting to come together and looking like a theater.

Thanks!

I ripped up all the carpet and padding today. The new carpet comes on Wednesday. This week is going to be a flurry of activity. I'm going to take the carpet to the county drop off tomorrow.

I'm painting the baseboards now and should finish up the stairwell painting today or tomorrow.
^^^Just be aware of the fact your baseboards can take some abuse when the carpet goes in, especially if you freshly paint them right before the instal.

Might be something to consider, or you could remove them, paint them and then reinstall after the new carpet.

RTROSE
