Have you guys seen a difference due to the firmware update?

Hi, I have a 59D6500 and I'm having a problem I was hoping somebody could help me with. I tried posting the issue in the D6500 thread but I didn't get a response. Since this thread seems to have more activity and the problem I'm having should affect the D7000's as well hopefully somebody here can help.

The problem is, I use this set primarily as a display for my htpc and whenever I set the resolution to 24hz it automatically switches on the 3D mode. I prefer to watch all my movies filmed in 24hz (23.976) in 24hz and all the programs I use to watch the movies automatically switches the refresh rate to the original content. As a result, i'm constantly having to turn the 3D mode off on the remote whenever I start a movie and it's really starting to get to me. I've looked through all the settings multiple times and I can't find anything that might resolve this, anybody have any ideas???

Btw, the D6500 also received the 1013 fw update, I just applied it (over usb) and it didn't seem to make too much of a difference in SD viewing.

As far as "makes TV available for 3D explore and Compassion apps" I'm not sure what compassion apps are and 3D explore has always been available so who knows?!?

Actually, one other issue I did notice with 3D explore since I've had this set is the constant buffering when trying to stream a 3D video. I'm on a 12 megabit downspeed line which bursts to 20 megabits and with the buffering every 10 seconds or so it makes viewing those videos unwatchable. I've tested it with no other devices on the line by bypassing the router and switch but it still buffers like crazy. Is this happening to others as well??

Even with all these issues I still love the set compared to my last tv, Panny 46G10. The color reproduction/pop and physical design of the Samsung is uncomparable, if I could just get these few minor issues resolved this would be the perfect tv for me.

I just received my PN51D7000 yesterday and updated to new firmware.

It came with version 11.

Watched my first 3D movie, Shrek 4. Played from my PS3. The depth was really good, but the things that you could tell were supposed to pop out, never really did. I watched the beginning of tahiti on samsung apps, and the planets seemed to pop out pretty good. Ps3 setting maybe?? Anyone else getting good pop out??

Anyone have mount recommendations from monoprice on the pn64d7000? Not sure what to get. I want it as low profile as possible. Going to be installing on a metal stud wall so the more I can reduce outward weight hang the better.

Just upgraded my 59" D7000 to the new firmware via USB with no issues.

Picture settings stayed the same.

Yep, that is happening to me as well.
It buffers only with the newer videos, the older 3D videos stream just fine.
I have a 100 meg line (actual speed 80-90 megs) and it still buffers every few seconds, making those 3D videos completely unwatchable.
Must be something on the Samsung's side.

Edit: There has just appeared some new Black Eyed Pea's concert 3D videos, and they are buffering fine without hickups, so it seems there is indeed some problem with just the previous batch of 3D videos.

Watched my first 3D movie yesterday using the included Samsung 5500 watching Megamind. Looked really nice with a few pop outs!

Thank you for your calibration settings. I bought the PN51D7000 1 week ago to replace my broken Samsung LED UN46D6500. My first plasma. I've tried several versions of your calibration settings.

1. Why do these settings appear to create a green cast (tint) with the overall image compared to standard mode?
2. Compared to my previous Samsung LED UN46D6500, the PN51D7000 image does not have the sharpness, wow factor of the image, and "pop" off the screen. The image appears soft. Is this the nature of a plasma TV compared to LEDs?
3. I've noticed a buzzing sound when the sound is turned down or when the room is quiet. Is this normal or should I have the TV replaced?

I was wondering about the buzzing noise on my few days old PN51D7000. I've noticed it as well when the room is quiet and the sound is turned down.

Is this normal for all plasmas?

Have a pixel that flickers white/dead pixel on the screen, but only shows up when watching 3D. Any way to fix this?? Didn't watch 3d for awhile after I got the tv and it's too late to send it back now. Will samsung do anything??

I have similar flashing pixel that is only showing with 3D, actually there's two, but the second seems much smaller and appears more rarely.
They both can be seen only when certain hues are on the screen, I think reddish colours show it most clearly.

Got mine yesterday baby

I am not able to connect online with the smart hub. It tells me to connect to a network but i am already connected hardwire. When I see network status it shows connected hut smart hub does not. Any ideas

I did not notice any difference in quality with viewing SD TV over amplified antenna.

Congrats on your new TV, Fathermurphy. I got my PN51D700 few days ago. What is your build date? It should say it on a silver sticker on back of your TV.

It isn't on the network yet. You have to download it on a PC and install via a USB thumb drive.

Web site link i've got only shows firmware 1013.1. Is there a different one for the D7000?

Firmware updates for the d7000 seem to be exclusively available via usb installation after download. There were some technical problems with the automatic updating procedure.

I would imagine the update will be made available on the network soon?
I want to update, but my mount makes is difficult to access anything in the back. I have one of those slim profile mounts... Very nice, but hard to get to the connections.

I have been watching several movie files in mkv format over the last 2 weeks, directly off a usb stick from the tv's usb port. Almost every file I watch has audio issues, where the audio will disappear for a second or two, then return. It's almost like a buffering issue or something. It happens sometimes just once or maybe even 2 or 3 times during a film. If I replay that part again it will play fine, so I know the audio is okay, since the dropouts don't happen in the same place each time. It's quite distracting because it instantly disrupts the viewing experience until the audio returns.

Actually, the same thing happens when I play them on my Samsung blu-ray player also (2011 model 5500). The blu-ray player even does the same thing when playing blu-ray discs and audio cds as well. I'm beginning to think that Samsung's media players are just crappy. They also introduced what appeared to be corruption on a video file today, another mkv. I thought the file had some compression problems, since there was all this distortion in parts of the image, but only once or twice. After playing the file on my computer, those same areas of the film played perfectly.

Do others have these issues with the Samsung media playback? I could understand some files maybe giving it a problem, but I'm talking every file I watch, and blu-ray discs and audio discs as well.

They will read an MKV FILE?

I run my hdmi to my onkyo reciever first
From there to the tv

I have not experienced audio issues at all

Also
I'm using the samsung 3d 5500 bd player
It sucks
It won't connect to the network
It won't allow me yo turn on BD ON
But the tv updated fine and connected yo network fine

Only issue is that when playing Netflix it auto Dims picture when room is dark
