Two things push me from the 3500, ease of battery replacement vs charging, and price. They are sharp.

Dunno. Batteries add weight and you have to recharge them as well if you don´t want to burn to much money. Nice to save the planet as well. Glasses don´t demand that much juice it´s enough for many days of extensive gaming and movie watching before needing a recharge. Can use them at the same time and these days you are surrounded by usb connections lol.

I have the 3500CR and they are perfection. If you do your job with your bat caves you don´t need the light covers which is really the only possible compromise I could find about it. Can´t feel it on my head no matter if I use glasses or not or headphones or not.

Great, thanks for the additional input. I need to add them to my Amazon price watcher until I get ready to buy

I guess there was nothing new at CES for 2012 glasses, or at least I did not see anything.

I got to looking around, and another Amazon seller had them for cheaper than Prime, so I went ahead and got 2 at $66 each, not bad. I have a spare PC in the back room, I can just hook them up to it every couple of weeks and let them charge.

Now I first though it was a bad connection, or old non high speed cable btw I'm using all Hdmi, input 1. but everything else works Strange, I don't want to start to rip out cables, and such, it might be something I'm over looking? I have not done the plug and play initial setup yet, perhaps there's a step I should be doing before scening regular cable TV?

Thanks

Djoel

So I did the setup, late on Friday I was able to watch some TV using the Tivo.
On Sat tried to turn the Tv to see some cartoons, but all I got was 20 seconds of signal. I turned it of and it did it again, I quickly when to the menu of the Tivo and notice there were two show being recorded at the same time, so I stop one of the recording and it worked th entered day.

Today I get up to see if all is well, but we've gone back to getting the same message on the screen Weak or no signal check the antenna cable connection

What's the deal? Anyone know what's the issue, or have a remedy to this?

I think being the Tivo is constantly on, it might be doing something the Sammy, but I'm not sure of that. I never had this issue with my other PDP's in the past, but this being a Hdmi -cec sensitive it just might be confused.

Thanks

You would have better luck in the 4311 owners thread

Thanks but I highly doubt it's the Denon issue, it's either the Samsung and the Tivo that are having some marital problems but I'll mention there too.

I've read a number of pages on this thread but I dont see anyone with the issue I am experiencing.

Randomly, my Sammy PN64D7000 will turn on and off by itself for several minutes. I can unplug it for about 5 minutes and it works fine but I have no idea what can be causing this problem. No button pushing will keep the TV on while this is happening...set just wants to turn on and off for several minutes. Weird.

Anyone seen this before? or know of a fix?
I believe the only fix for that is to exchange it for a new one asap.

Sounds like your main board needs replacement, probably heat related which is why it takes a few minutes to reproduce.

I just had a tech in last week for a similar problem on my 59D7000. It will turn itself on randomly - days will go by with no problem, then one morning I will wake up to find it powered on. Typically, once it starts it will refuse to remain powered off for more than 30 seconds or so, so I just have to use the power switch on my surge protector to unplug it.

The tech arrived and said he needs to actually observe the problem, and of course it was not acting up at the time. I asked him why they would send someone to observe a RANDOM problem! After some discussion, I finally asked what exactly will he do to diagnose the issue once he observes it in action. He said, "nothing, I just need to see it". So, I pressed power on the remote and said, "THERE, you just saw it. Pretend I didn't touch the remote. That's my problem."
Then he agreed to order me a new main board and IR sensor.

He also played dumb when quizzed about pops and buzz. "All plasmas buzz"... riiiight. NOT LIKE MINE. After I told him that my friend has the same TV with ZERO BUZZ (very minor behind the set, but not projecting throughout the room), he attempted to blame my house wiring for the buzzing (which was recently upgraded and is completely to code). I was tempted to keep the pressure on, but I'm afraid if I get them to replace my panel to "fix" the buzz, I'll end up with an even louder panel or some new problem. I do feel fortunate to have a panel without any uniformity issues and seemingly immune to IR, so maybe I should just live with it.

Beach, I have 4 pairs of the 3050 glasses and I'm pretty happy with them. I got them mostly for the price, but they work great and are pretty comfortable even over regular glasses.

Thanks, I opted for the 3500CR's for my wife and I, but If I decide to stick with it Ill pick those 3050's up for extra guests.

Has anybody received the USB update yet?
If so did you see a fix?

I'd not expect them until march.

Probably so, but I would expect 2011s to starting getting thin.

So I've been researching the pros and cons of going with a low profile mount with this tv and can't seem to find a definitive answer. Is it confirmed that the low profile mounts may cause the screen to bubble?

Hello Owners

I'm moving from LCD to Plasma due to damaging our 52" Sony. Just in the short time of looking I've got it down to either the Panasonic Gt 51" or the Samsung D7000 51".

I really didn't get to see a D7000 in the right viewing like the panny GT. I did see a Samsung D550 51" and the picture on it was surprising good to me.

On the Samsungs, are the screens the same as their LED's; glossy clear and refective?

Second, what is this "peeling effect" I'm hearing about and should it be a concerned with this model?

Third, is there sound issues or lack of with this model?

Forth, how is the PQ compared to the mid to upper models of their LEDs?

Thank you for any input and other information about this model. On a side note I did like the Pnasonic GT/VT "matte" look or lack of reflection along with wheat I call more a photo-realism look. The one Sammy, the D550 51" did seem to have more vibrant colors. This is a first Plasma consideration ever so I'm relying on opinions and more insight from owners and techs. Thank you again.

Screeen is glossy and reflective when off, I do get some reflection throughout the day with display on, not bad. Definitely, want to consider room and placement if glare is going to be an issue. I, too, like the matte black of some other models, but the PQ on this is so much better, I'll put up with some glare and reflections.

The peeling seems to have been taken care of. I have an October 2011 build and no peeling issues, at all. I believe Samsung changed the way they did the filter on the glass, or something, to cure the problem. If it does peel, it is covered under warranty.

I use a dedicated surround system, but I did try the speakers out. They aren't terrrible compared to flat panel displays of years past. They would be adequate for regular TV vewing in a small room for someone who doesn't insist on "better" sound.

No idea on LED TV's compared to the 7000.

IMO, you wont find an LCD in the price/size range to compete with the D7000, without several negatives. Maybe the 8 and 9 series sharps.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I received the usb stick today Samsung said they would send. However, I only received one. I was supposed to receive two; one to rollback my firmware to an older version then another to install the firmware that fixes the brightness pops. Will test it out later and see what happens.

Has anybody else received their usb sticks and if so, how many did you get? 1 or 2?

i only got one the first time. if your on version 1015 already it wont work. youll have to contact them again to get them to send the two sticks out.

if your on version 1013, you might be in luck

Would anyone be willing to upload and share the files contained on the USB sticks?

By the time I get home at night, taking my TV off the wall the get the Serial Number seems more annoying than just dealing with the issue!

I would upload the files, but I only have the one usb drive. You need to already be on firmware 1013 because if not then it won't work. I have already ordered another 2 usb drives so I can downgrade my firmware and install the right one. When I get the new drives, if no one has uploaded the contents, I will upload the files.

If you can get a mirror behind the TV, you can get the serial number pretty easy.
