it's a Nov 2011 build, is not a peeler, on top of that, neither I nor gfriend can hear ANY buzz whatsoever and her hearing is a lot better than mine. Maybe they have somehow fixed the buzz issue. Calibrated pic using a bunch of different settings and ended up keeping the CNET settings for now as they look really good.
Sort of working on a stream of consiousness at this point after messing with it all weekend, so here goes:
Awesome pic, and I mean really outstanding though I did go out and get some black curtains for the weekend daytime sports viewing - looking forward to the Stupor (sic) Bowl !
I guess my issues at this point are trying to figure out why file fomats pretty much are not supported across the board using Windows Media Server networking/filesharing. I know folks are using USB and Samsung's version of DNLA is NOT the same as their USB protocols (not sure why) but that really is kinda lame considering I will continue to add songs photos to the computer. I can see all my photos, Itunes music (upgraded to Icloud so they are Mp4a files @ 320 kbps) and have various video types - mostly AVI - but Samsung says Not supported format (Chinglish) for any of these file types using Windows Media Server. TVersity isn't supported so what next ? So I downloaded Allshare and yes, now I can see all my photos and some of my videos, but NO Itunes music ??? Why doesn't Windows media server work ? Must be doing something wrong. Will keep at it as I can't believe that doesn't work.
If anyone knows any tricks to get Itunes working via networking that info would be appreciated. I did try several different ways to point to itunes, but no dice.
Also it took me a while to figure out how to get Pandora working - have to go to Samsung website, register and then login on the TV @ Smart Hub, then go to Samsung apps in Smart hub and find what you want- like Pandora. it did work nicely though.
So I guess it's mostly all good since I still do have access to Itunes through my PS-3 which supports nearly any file format you can throw at it. It is nice the remote automatically works many Netflix features... Still have to figure out how to play Youtube videos, an excellent feature for parties...
That's it for now. Overall, it's an awesome set though somewhat weak on internet functionality/usability. Why not allow a Logitech USB keyboard and mouse to navigate Smart Hub and a real browser - maybe a good firmware update for Samsung ?
