Embarrassing question re Samsung BD-D6700 DVD Player

I bought a Samsung BD-D6700 DVD Player to replace an older Samsung. I connected it and when I pressed the eject button, it said "no disc" and did nothing. Same result when using remote. So I thought I received a dud and returned it and got a new one. Same thing happened with this new one. I would love to blame Samsung, but I think I may be missing something really obvious.

Everytime it says "no disc", I think "no sh*t, that's why I'm trying to open the tray." What the heck am I doing wrong?

Is your Sammy a BR player? Just wondering because the model number starts out with BD.
Anyway someone here(in the DVD players forum) might know but if not you might want to post in the BR forum.
A quick search yielded no 6700 thread but I did find this large 6500 thread, maybe last years model?

It's a slot loading player, there is no tray to eject/open.

OK, post like this gotta be placed in a section of their own for comic relief...

...along with the guy who folded a 5.25 floppy disc to fit into a 3.5" floppy slot (and what the heck is floppy????)
