Semi HTPC, upgrade and issues

Well I had a pretty nice 2007 style Home theater PC set up hooked to a 35" GE tube, S-video input only.

I have a decent receiver a Marantz SR5002. But there is one important feater it lacks - S-video input to HDMI out.

Well this new computer with a higher end HD6850 video card just won't connect to my TV.

I've tried the $5 VGA to S-video dongles and they don't work. Looks like I would have to buy a $100 converter and no gaurantees my video card driver would even recognize it..

I just bought my wife a 42" LCD for $350, should have bought two.

I hate to throw away this nice 35" tube, but it seems the only option that makes sense.

Bad thing is I the LCD I replace it with will burn out long before this old CRT would. And heck there isn't even any electric bill savings with flat screens.

Frustrated.

You just need the right video card...this is what I use with my 35" Toshiba CRT:
