Sony STR-DG910 help with set up and 3D

I am a bit of a novice and trying to get this right so any help is appreciated.

My set up is a 73 inch Mitsubishi WD-73638 DLP with Directv DVR, Sony STR-DG910, with a PS 3.

I recently purchased the 3D set up (mitsubishi 3dc-1000) kit and am having issues.

I hooked the Directv dvr, ps3 to the Sony receiver and hooked up the 3D device between the TV and receiver as instructed.
The 3D wont work on the PS3 and it wont even detect it in the settings of the PS3. The 3D seems to work for the regular directv things but not great.

Is my STR-DG910 outdated and not compatible with 3d or something? Do I need to purchase a different receiver that is compatible.

Is it better (or possible) to just hook my ps3, directv directly to the TV and bypass the receiver and just use it for the sound? Would that work better.

Please help as I am stuck here..

maybe the receiver is preventing the playstation from communicating with the 3D hardware.

and maybe the receiver slows down the performance of the playstation and 3D device.

sounds like you have a good reason to disconnect.
i think its a little weird that your satellite television works in 3D .. but the playstation doesnt.
that 3D software is supposed to transform everything into 3D (except maybe flat cartoons)

Your Sony receiver is only HDM 1.3 so you would have to connect the PS3 directly to the 3DC-1000 with an optical cable from the PS3 to the Sony for audio.

I bet you have an old Directv box. The new ones block use of AVRs for 3D. It's a feature according to the Directv rep.

Rumour has it that if you hook your PS3 (with updated software) to your 3D TV and do someone 3D once, it will remember that and you can use your non-3D AVR after that.

Has anyone gotten an HR24 to work through a 3D AVR to a 3D TV?
