Just bought a house with a great room / bar the entire room is a rectangle 18ft wide by 28ft deep. The couch TV area is about 14ft x 18ft.

Looking for a decent quality 7 channel receiver to drive my Klipsch RF-3, RC-3, RS-3, w/ KSW-12D any help w/ speaker placement and where to mount the RS-3's I would also appreciate.

I've been looking at yamaha dennon and onkyo receivers

The TV/Receiver will be on the left in this picture

Looking for something for 60 percent movies 40 percent music

Thanks!!!

Look for the features you want and forget about power ratings. I like Harman Kardon myself.

If power has you worried, then buy a receiver with pre-outs so you can later add external amps (which will last several generations of receiver upgrades).

The Yamaha 667 receiver will drive your speakers - and it also
has pre-outs.

Anyof those you mentioned Brands should work out well, but it depends on what you want for features and price tag. What is the price you were thinking of spending is the first question I would ask. How many HDMI inputs do you need? Are you looking at a 7.1 or maybe a 7.2 to add another sub down the road?

As power goes, I agree with PSG's post as if you need "more" power you can always add an external amp.

Thanks, I would prefer a network ready receiver to play internet music. Looking to spend up to $600 would probably need about 4 hdmi connections. Not really sure the difference between 7.1 & 7.2 (is it 2 subs instead of 1??)
How much power would you recomend to properly drive the speakers in this size room. Thanks!

At the moment ( depend on when you read this that is ) Vanns.com has an "open box" Onkyo 808 reduced to $552.00 ( reg. 850.00 ) Thats where I bought mine as a fac. referb a few months ago. LOVE IT! You may want to check the specs on it thou as it is bigger than quite a few receivers as it weighs 41lbs.

I would suggjest nothing under 100w pr channel as most the receivers you are looking at have at least that anyhow. ( THe 808 has 135w pr channel)

7.2 means having two disigned ports for dual sub, but with a 7.1 system you can run duel subs buy using a Y- adaptor anyhow.

Im not so up on the Denon & Yamaha ( as I'm sure they are a great receiver asl well) I just know the Oknyo line. I'll list a few models for you to look at that have what you may want. I'll try to list the best price if I can find it. I'll list the Onkyo line with internet comp, hdmi ports and watts that you prob need or want.

FWIW, you'll probably use less than 2 watts most of the time with those speakers.......I think they're 97db/watt sensitive.

Congrats...and enjoy your system.
