I am no longer having erratic issues with my S780 as I did with the S570, for the exception of the handshaking issue at the beginning of a disc. I've played quite of few movies on the S780 and really haven't noticed any strange behavior. While the S570 did not have a handshaking or signal drop issue at the start of a disc, the S780 does. To answer your question, I do have the player connected to a Sony STR-DA3600ES receiver. A while ago, I remember that having the HDMI Deep Color set to AUTO on the S570 was causing picture drop outs at random spots during blu ray movies. Someone on the 570 thread said to turn the HDMI Deep Color to OFF. This fixed the issue. Could this be the problem I'm having with the S780? I have yet to witness any picture or audo drop outs with the S780 other than when I first pop in a dvd or blu ray disc. I assumed handshaking occurs when the player is turned on for first time and communicating with the tv. It just don't make sense that once you pop in a disc, you lose the signal for a few seconds, sometimes longer when you see the screen turn white. I'm going set the HDMI Deep Color to OFF to see if that makes a difference.
