How many speakers in your setup? - Page 9

Oh Yeah I have 7.2 in the bedroom as well as 9.2 in the living room
the wife B*tched about all the speakers I put in there ...
Days later I hear her bragging to her friend on the phone on how well HER bedroom HT sounds
post #242 of 479
I think you should have added a 3.1 option to this poll.
7.1 in main living room and 5.1 in bedroom, sort of mixed on 7.1 as rears seem to not get a lot of info, so a good 5.1 in a medium room is probally enough for good effects with a good system. 7.1 is working better now, changing out PSW450 Polk sub for a PL-200 BIC Sub and adjusted receiver to make all movies 5.1 or 7.1 simulate if not 7.1 helps a little just seem to notice rear speakers more in 5.1 setup. Read mixed views about 7.1 and using front height speakers, not sure about that.

I know what you mean! My wife bitched too, and probably everyone else's wife here also! She called it a fu**ing speaker fest . Now she loves the 7.1 theater downstairs and I also put together a fairly cheap 5.1 and 50" plasma for her to watch her crappy shows upstairs. I have her painting downstairs right at this very second getting ready so we can put the new projector and screen up. Needed it darker down there. She never cared about crap like this before haha.

11.2. But the surrounds and back speakers each have dedicated subs using speaker level inputs.

So does that make it 11.6?

RX-Z11 using B&W 800 series.

5.1 in Family Room
7.1 in Theater Room

I switched from PLIIx, surround backs, to PLIIz, front heights in the Theater Room. I had been using 7.1 with surround backs for about three years prior to the switch. My sofa is against the back wall and the sound envelope is better with front heights. After a recent AVR upgrade I hooked up the front heights and ran them for a one month trial period. I then switched back to surround backs and instantly noticed, that for my setup, front heights sounded much better, YMMV. Anyone with placement constraints should definitely check out PLIIz and DSX for a much larger and fuller sound stage.

Just a quick AVSForum poll on what AVS Forum members have setup for their speaker configuration. (If you have more than one setup, please just answer for the main setup as we know some of you have a listening room as well as a theater for example.)

Simple as that really, do you use 2 channel, 5.1, 7.1, or more?

Note...The .1 can be .2 etc when it comes to subs, we are just using the common terms.

Feel free of course to talk about this below.

Poll will auto close on 4/10/11

Actually 5.2

5.1 living room, 7.2 basement, 2.0 basement, 5.1 car.

5.1 for the main floor but mainly because the room is so wide open to the rest of the house and awkward for 7.1. Will definitely have 7.1 at the least in the basement HT room once done, gotta save up some $$ for some S8's-C5-ADP3 with that beautiful Sub2.

I do 5.1 with 2 center channels. One normal center and a 2nd above me pointing down. You cant tell where it's coming from after a bit. Turning your head left or right and the center is always there.

7.1 Klipsch with SVS Cylinder. My Anthem AVM 50v does a great job of filling the theater with enveloping sound.

Theatre Room in basement, My Bedroom and wife's Loft - 5.1 - same problem - wife didn't want speaker fest. (And I only wanted 7.1 in MY bedroom!)

Couldn't find anywhere to vote - is the voting over?

Why did the poll close prematurely? What are the benefits of closing the poll so members cannot vote? Free tip: open poll and leave it open for a few months so more of us get a chance to vote.

5.2 here
