ACER 7531d 1080P DLP

Well I took the plunge with the Acer 7531D and should have it by Weds. I have been happy with the Acer 5360 so decided to take the 1080P plunge.
You are right that there is not much out there about the projector but
for under 900.00 I don't know of anything that would give me a better
picture so I decided to dump my Nvidia 3D setup. I almost went with the
BenQ 1100 with the 4X color wheel vs 3 but since I don't see rainbows on
the 5360 why would I on the 7531D.

I will try and post some screenshots when I get it setup and give a review
vs the 5360 which I still have for now. The features that made me interested were:
Full HD 1080p
True 24p, PIP (tested works)
DynamicBlack technology (See if it works with out side effects) medium mode works great!
Acer ColorBoost / ColorBoost II / Color Boost II+ Technology color looks great and plenty of adjustments
Acer SmartFormat Technology
ColorSafe II.

I will keep you posted and the reason is there is not much content in 3D
at least for me since I use off air tv and am to cheap to buy the movies.
My setup worked great and my kids enjoyed it but until they come out
with 1080P 3D for under 1000.00 I am going to wait. I sit 11ft back from
a 10ft picture and don't want the pixels on 2d content which is what I watch the most.

Projector made it so I will give some feedback later tonight.

After watching the Acer 7531D for a few hours I would say if you have
the throw for DLP this is a great machine. Notice no rainbows or effect
and black enhancer setting medium works great. I am running eco user mode and a few adjustments in the the color management settings.
Tried 1080P 24ps and the display said I was in that mode but haven't
tested a bluray yet. Also the Sharpness and brilliant color works great.

I sell the 8350 Epson and the Acer 7531 wins hands down if you
can use DLP and not sensitive to rainbows like me. Blacks are a
little better on the RS1 but the Acer is close and beats it in color
and pop with no blurring. The Hw15 Sony blacks were not as good
As the Acer and the picture looks at least to me better for 899.00.
The Sharp 1200mk11 that I owned has no chance against the Acer.

All I am trying to say they were all great machines in my theater
but in no way worth the money over the 7531D. I am sure that
the mits 4000 or benq 1100 are equal or better but for more money.

Plenty of pop on the 10ft screen or 12ft. As far as the Epson goes The Acer
looks like a Giant Led flat panel and with the Black Enhancer on medium
it takes the projector to another level. The iris doesn't have a pumping
action but a slight fade which doen't bother me at all. While the Epson
the blacks seem soft and and color is flat in comparison. The
Acer has more usable light output at a higher picture quality.

I guess to answer your question I prefer to use Eco mode which has
plenty of brightness even with ambient light. The black levels and detail
is quite good for 899.00. Have not seen the Mits 4000 but alot of people
speak highly of it on the forum. I would say that Acer does
do an amazing job for so little money and calibrates very well.

I have owned these projectors in my theater on the same screen and have
added some insight on how the Acer compares.

Just a few quick shots no camera expert but happy with the image.

I would say average in normal mode and in eco can't hear it from 5 feet.

Hawkson: What do you want to know? The pics posted were a 2.1g mkv file and
look better in person. I listed the projectors that have been in my theater on a
10ft da-lite HP screen. You could drive over if you want to see it. I will try to
help you if I can! Or if you have specific question as to the other projectors listed
compared to the Acer. They all have there strong points and weakness. To me
the Acer looks like a Samsung Led 55" tv that is 120". Has that glass look to it that
looks real.

The blacks on the Epson are flat like you want to walk up 5 ft from the screen and watch
the picture where as the 7531 pop out at you even sitting back 11 feet
back.

The iris medium is the adjustment but on high it has a pumping action.
Picture 3 was taken to show the key next to the detonator. No iris no
key! Spoiled by the iris I guess but the picture still looks good off but
once you taste the forbidden fruit Hope this helps!

I don't see rainbows or effect in the 7531 or have I seen the 7530 so I can't help with the comparison. Black Enhancer works and so does the 24fps 1080p. As far as blows out of the water I wouldn't go that far but 899.0 price there will not be a huge improvement with any projector except for black levels but at what expense? Double the money is not worth it
for me and am happy with my purchase. I like the Iris feature hence the
better black levels and numbers mean nothing it is what comes out of the
projector. Lot's of great choices out there I'm sure you will figure it
out.

Black enhancer set to medium is the iris adjustment. Give the projector
about 2 hours on and the lamp will settle in before you try to calibrate.

The offset is still 8 inches with the 7531.

It states 5 years for the chip only? Do they even fail that often. I have
not compared but doubt there any better projector if at all. All these projectors with higher pricing is a lateral move at best for the under
1500.00 projector class. I like my 7531d so much I bought an I7 2600k for
extreme frame doubling
