8-16 ohms Kenwood receiver to 4 ohms JBL speakers

I was wondering about this but am I able to connect a pair of JBL Control 1 speakers to a home stereo Kenwood KR-594 receiver without problems? The receiver says 8 ohms to 16 ohms but I know the JBL Control 1s are 4 ohms. I assume it will work fine right?

They may work, but depending on how low the speakers drop they may overheat and consequently damage the amplifier. How many watts per ch is the receiver?
