The PC also has a 3tb NAS where I store BD movies converted to MKV files. Saturday night I was watching one of these movies stored locally on the Live Hub and I noticed a little bit of jitter in the picture. It is almost imperceptible, but on slow panning shots it is not quite smooth and appears to drop a frame or two ever so slightly at random. Thought it might have had something to do with the conversion, so I shrugged it off. Yesterday I was watching some recorded TV on the extender (CSI) and again noticed this same jitter. Again, I thought since it was recorded that it might have to do with the source material, so I disconnected the HDMI from the 609 and connected it directly from the extender to the TV. No more jitter.
Now I'm freaking out that the 609 is doing something to the HDMI signal that's causing this jitter. I can't live with this. Since it has happened on 2 different input sources I'm almost sure it has nothing to do with the source material. With the extender the source is stored on a PC and carried over the network, but with the Live Hub the source is stored directly on its 1tb hard drive. I have about a week left to return this unit to the store. Any ideas? Anyone else seeing anything like this? Could it be a setting I need to change?

Hey CycleWriter. I'm a newbie here...getting ready to buy my first A/V Receiver...but I've been doing some due-diligence on this purchase and found this thread at Amazon on the previous model, the TX-SR608. About 40 posts in the discussion.

[I'm new so I can't post a url...change the httx above to http...]
...what appears to be a bug with its ability to pass through HDMI video signals unmolested, even in "Through" modes. This bug manifests itself in two ways: 1. 24 bit sources (like cable hdtv) are upconverted to 30 bit when output on a display; AND 2. for some inexplicable reason, 1080p 24fps sources stutter intermittently as if a frame is dropped. The latter might be more noticeable to plasma owners whereas 120hz and 240hz LCDs might compensate for the frame stuttering with their interpolation software...
This is a known issue for the previous model that sounds similar to your concern. The posters at Amazon reference discussions here at AVS on the same known issue. Do a search here maybe.
Hope this helps. I'm pretty sure I'll be ordering this model as well, though your report is disconcerting. I would have figured the engineers at Onkyo would have found a complete fix with this new model. Hummmmm. Maybe your issue is different? Folks with greater knowledge here maybe can help.
