Good luck! The lens you got with the front element piece should be really nice. I'm taking my time and trying not to get to far in debt over the whole process.

Well, the RS1 is gone and I now have an HD350 (RS10) that I'm playing around with. Still no screen but I think I have decided to go with a Jamestown screen using the Seymour material.

I think curved would look cool but I'm already pressed for space and funds. I have an odd setup to deal with seeing as I'm trying to use inwall speakers but not actually put them in the wall and oh yeah...there's a window right where the center speaker goes. It's a spare bedroom so I can only do so much. I was surprised last night at just how little distortion I had with my lens in this relatively short throw. From what I had read it seemed unlikely that my lens would work with this projector at all. The recessed lens in the HD350 and the small area for the light beam to enter with this old Prismasonic lens.

Reallyyyyy wish I could find a Panamorph UH480 and slide at a good price.

I'm at the absolute limits of this lens and actually spilling off the side of the screen facing prism just a bit when in 2.35 mode.

Agreed, it is such more cooler to have wall to wall image and makes for a more immersive experience. I don't even have the screen yet, need to do that ASAP. I would like to find a UH480 or an ISCO3 small lens with transport for less than 2K. I know that's a tall order but I just missed several of the Isco lenses on Ebay for that price. This HD350 has the recessed lens of course so that presents more challenges for this prism lens. The RS1 lens worked much better with it. Thanks for looking out!

Finally found my surround speakers and hung two of them this past weekend. The only thing really missing now is the screen. Of course, I still don't have anything to hold my front speakers so that is the next thing to do.

Guys, I need some help with my screen and speaker configuration. As I think I mentioned previously in the thread, I have (3) in-wall speakers that have full enclosures that I wan't to use without putting them in the walls. My idea was to build a sort of baffle wall or plywood surface with cutouts for the speakers and then attach that whole thing to the wall with proper spacing for the speaker back boxes. The AT screen would then mount in front of this. I plan to cover the front wall with Linacoustic. My questions at this point are related to positioning of the speakers and screen. I have read several things about the screen height and how it should be placed where the bottom 1/3 (for 2.35) of the viewable area is at eye level of the front row. I assume that with the speakers I also need to try to have the tweeters at ear level? This is the part that has me kind of worried because these in wall speakers are about 31" high http://www.snellacoustics.com/AMC_870-spec-sheet.pdf

This might bring my overall screen position veritcally lower than I would like. Any suggestions? What is more critical? Screen height or speaker height?

Yeah, I think lower will be fine once I see it all put together. I guess I still have this image in my head of my old 16:9 screen taking up so much more room veritcally. Placement just seemed more obvious but also had a lot to do with where my center channel was and a subwoofer that was fairly tall. I actually will have an even taller subwoofer now that I might end up having to place on it's side now that the screen will be lower.

Well I finally hung the projector. Its in the closet at the rear of the room, hanging about 12" from the ceiling. Nice square image. Now I have to rig up something to hold the anamorphic lens.

This Prismasonic lens though dated, is motorized so I have remote control over the pass/stretch function. I won't need a slide for this lens but getting it mounted and positioned in the small space I have in front of the projector may be a challenge. I still have to decide where the image/screen should be on the wall so maybe tonight I will post some pictures of different positions on the wall (no screen, just image) and see what everyone thinks.

It won't be anything fancy, that's for sure! I have a dirty white wall with a window in the middle of it and a piece of styrofoam in front of that window. The screen wall is going to have to be radically changed before this is ready for prime time. It will be covered in Linacoustic and then the baffle wall of sorts will be built to hold the front and center speakers. I just have to nail down the screen vertical placement before I can move on to any of those things. Sometimes I think I would like it close to the ceiling and then other times it looks better to me closer to the floor. Confused...

Like I said there is a window in the middle of this wall which you can clearly see in these pics and it was still daylight outside.

Thanks Glenn and John, I hadn't really thought of that being a factor in this decision but I realize now that it certainly should be. I spent a little time this evening watching movies with the image in that lowest position and I think it is a good comfortable height. Every wall in the room is black fabric except for the front wall at the moment. I have the masking from my old screen partially removed while I decide how to treat that wall and install my speakers. It will be totally framed in black once the screen is up. I will probably cover the ceiling with linacoustic or some sort of insulation at least a few feet out to kill any light reflections up there. Good call on that guys and this make my decision a little easier now.
