Acoustical Panels going up...

I will have them floating off the wall, like the one in the picture.

Progress! Looking good. A purpose built, monster screened bat cave. I like it.

Can't wait to see it geared up and loaded with chairs.

Room is almost done!

Some more pics.

First Person Mode: (yes I even use black sandals - don't want my whiteness to lower room ANSI contrast... Lol.)

Some design work around where people may touch, as the walls are flat black:

And from a distance:

Put up the HVAC covers and air intake vent covers.

Love it.

Are your slippers made from Fidelio black velvet for maximum light absorption? Will you give guests their own pair when they enter the theater? In jest of course...mostly.
Interesting solution to the flat black marring. My theater has been used constantly for more than a year by 3 teenage boys and their video game buddies with no permanent damage to the paint. It does get scuffed looking a bit around the switches but a damp cloth wipe down to the entire area brings it back to new.

You have done a great job on the theater. When the lights dim there will be nothing to detract from the show. Drag in the lawn furniture if you have to, just get watching some movies.

Thank you Mike and David.

The "room" will be done on wednesday night.

Then clean up around the rest of the unfinished basement / better protection (grading / water tight seals) around the house. Then onto equipment.

Awesome, came over here from your Lumagen post--been looking for an option besides doors in front on both sides of my screen and those posts have really got me thinking.
FYI, the photos links are broken now. Plus I am still waiting to see the equipment

80% done cleaning unfinished basement, then onto the equipment....

Still don't have a projector yet though. Thinking the Sony VPL-VW95ES or JVC RS55

Room's looking 10/10. Excellent work.

If you're going to have a dedicated theater room, this thread is the epitome of why the cost and time is more than worth doing it right.

Thank you very much for the compliments guys. Make me feel all that was spent (money and time) was worth it and I hope to enjoy for many many years. When I started the project planning over 2 years ago I wanted to make a full out crazy high performance theater. I hope to know soon if everything turned out as planned. Once I get all the equipment installed and calibrated. Again, thank you all for your very nice comments. To give some inspiration to others, I make way under 6 figures a year. And it is still possible to get something like this without having to make over 100,000 a year. It just takes time and dedication. I haven't been on a vacation for over 4 years now... Lol. (but will after everything is done. )

Maybe more important, I wish I have your skills and dedication. I really envy you DIYer that is so handy and able to make panels, false wall, handling HVAC, screen walls etc!

nice job!

Congratulations SOWK, nice and dark.

What movies have you watched so far? My first was Dark Knight - held off watching it for like a year so I could save it for the HT.
