Alright so I'm about to pick one of these sets up within the next week or two and I've got two really big questions to me.

1) How many sets suffer from this fluctuating brightness issue? All? 50%? 1/3rd of 'em? I saw some videos and it looks atrocious & unbareable - certainly couldn't keep a set like that coming off of a set that doesn't have this issue.

2) As I'm aware, Game Mode doesn't reduce lag whatsoever on this set and some of the other modes even better input lag than with Game Mode turned on. So what mode works best for the least amount of input lag an how many ms are we talking? This is vital to me. I guess I should go an add a sub question to this an ask for some good settings specifically for gaming.

For what it's worth, I haven't seen a single hint of FBr on my 60GT30 yet in over a week. I'm not saying it's not there for sure, but I have yet to notice it. I say that as someone who had purchased a Samsung PN59D6500 and returned it due to their FBr (or brightness pops) driving me absolutely crazy, so it's not like my eyes are bad, either.

I absolutely love the GT30 so far. I wouldn't even worry about the FBr, since even if you notice it, you can always get it taken care of from Panny.

Thanks again Smitty. I searched the thread that you recommended and found a solution that involved sending the slides to iPhoto and back. Now I have another dilemma. The stand I have which has a mount that hold the TV above it, seen here http://www.amazon.com/Techcraft-TRK5.../dp/B000HZF170 will not work right with the GT series. The problem is the speakers which protrude out at the bottom on the set. I never noticed that the bump was there. This will not allow me to attach the arms of the mount all the way down very close to the bottom of the tv so that I can get the right height for viewing as well as have the room under the panel that I need for my equipment and speakers. I was on the TechCraft website looking to see if they sold some type of extension for the main piece that runs vertically up the back of the stand but came up with nothing. So I guess my options are to consider wall mounting (which is tough because the set goes in a corner), live with it as is, or return it (and probably have to pay a restocking fee) for another set that is flat all the way down the back like the Samsung PN59D7000 that I was considering along with this one to begin with. Any advice, suggestions, and comments are appreciated.

Ah, so from what I read I guess an August build date is your best bet - if not, they'll have to cruise out and fix it for you. Fair enough. I plan on getting my set in the next month at BB, hopefully it'll be an August build. Is there a way to determine the build date outside of the box?
