I called Panny and opened up a ticket for the FBR issue. They scheduled a local repair man out this Wednesday. I will call them and see if they have the A board required to fix the issue. If they do not, then I will have them order it; otherwise, all of us are going to waste time. I do not mind waiting. I just don't want them to come out after I take the unit off of the wall to find out that they do not have the part or if the repair man wants to verify the problem which may be difficult because it is erratic depending on the scenes.

I am about to purchase this tv in 60 inch. I could get the VT 55 inch for the same price. I sit about 12 feet from the tv. Which do you guys think would be better?

No question in my mind--get the 60. 5 inches diagonal screen is significant. That's about my distance with the 60 as well.

I would go for the 60" in a heart beat. 55 inch from 12ft is not enough! Maybe save up a little and get the 65gt30.......I got the 60gt30 but I sit 8-9 feet from the tv and it is just about right!

Meanwhile I have a 50 inch GT30 which I view at 12 feet and it seems almost too big.

Your mileage (like your visual acuity) may vary.

I agree, but a bigger tv is always a bigger tv......

Yea I just got a 60in and at first when I placed in my room I had such a large smile...I Knew that going larger a size than what I wanted and seeing it in my room would be a good re-assurance.

But now I am used to it. I think about what if, but also remember I went a size larger than what I wanted. To me that is good enough to stop thinking of what if.

Did you test with media that has worked fine in the past? It might be the certain file you are playing.
Yeah I did, just seems really strange. It plays and then randomly stops. I'm really worried now something internal in the tv could be wrong, but I dunno it plays and all and then stops

You can use a simple program called MKV2VOB to transcode the video then stream it. If you dont have a surround system just go into config and check the box that says "always transcode DTS"

Hey all,

I have the 60inch GT30 and I have noticed that the set itself is quiet for most of the time but I when I was watching Harry Potter on blu-ray last and night during some of the darker scenes I could hear some light buzzing but it only happened during the really dark scenes.

Once the picture got a little brighter the buzzing stopped so it seems it only happens during certain scenes. I know buzzing has been talked about in regards to this set but I was wondering is it normal for this to happen only during certain scenes, as in when the screen gets dark?

I don't suppose anything can be done about that, is there? Other than that I love the GT30!

Thanks.

Had my set for about three weeks and it has been great. I have two quick questions

1) I cannot mount my TV to the Wall, and instead it is sitting on a stand. Does anyone have any soundbar reccomendations that will sit under the TV without interfering with the picture? It looks like the Son 150 and Panny 520 woudl work, but wanted to see if anyone had this TV and had some ideas.

2) When watching sports, the close-up shots look amazing, but sometimes the wider shots look almost out of focus. I sort of assume this is just bad camera work, but has anyone had any experience with this? Ideas?

Thanks

I found that link yesterday and am running it all day. Will see what it looks like tonight. I was so friggen disappointed as I thought I had done everything correctly. I am running the same apps. the same way (exactly the same PC)as I was on my earlier 42in panasonic plasma . After 6 years, there wasn't a hint of image persistance. Hopefully it will fade on the GT30 and become less noticable.

Thanks for the comment though.

There is hope. I've only had mine for a month or so, did the D'nice aging and settings and then ran some more Webapalooza slides while at work to get some more time on the panel. I also thought I was being careful enough, your post made me check mine and sure enough there was the [adult swim] logo which is the channel that gets the most play. I ran the slides last night and this morning it had faded considerably, I expect it will be gone when I get home.

This is the other type of buzzing that most owners did not notice when the screen is totally black or scene changes, you can test by run the burn-in slide and pause at the black color the buzz come from the back top left corner when you face the set. I have returned 3 of 60gt30s because of this buzzing issue.

Not sure how well it would fit but was looking for a bar for our smaller sammy plasma in another room and this one sounded much better than the rest when I tried them out at BB, looking to pick this one up for sure:

Boston Acoustics TVee Model 25 Sound System with Sleek Sound Bar and Wireless Subwoofer

you can find it at BB and Amazon.

I've noticed this as well and believe it is the way it's broadcast.

I'm really stuck. Is the VT30 worth the extra cost if I'm not going to get it professionally calibrated? I'm not the best at calibrating. I'm more of a... find the best on the market and only do minor adjustments. At a certain point though, the "best" may not be worth the extra cost.

I know the GT30 /VT30 have the same panel, but I'm not sure if the VT30 is calibrated out of the box. Should I cough up the extra $400 for the VT? If I go for the GT, I then have to consider the D7000 / D8000.

Thanks.
