What update do you speak of?

Correct

Not sure on any settings as I won't be applying the luminance update since I had my display calibrated two weeks ago.

I have had my 60GT30 for 2 months and love it. In order for the GT30 to do 60Hz correct I set my Oppo BDP-93 for 60Hz by turning off 24p correct? I'm using this setting now with the GT in 60Hz mode. Motion looks great.

Actually no. Leave the Oppo on 24p output. Then choose 60Hz as the 24p mode on the GT30.

I am in Columbus, OH.. not sure from where its delivered.... But its manufacturing date is May '11

The TV is going thru 100hrs Yoga now (DNice slide set)....

Question to forum members,
1) If I am not wrong, I need to work with Panasonic for A-Card replacement... What to ask for, A-Card directly...
2) Do I need to put TV for 100hr hibernation again after card replacement...

I am also curious because I ordered the 60GT30 from Amazon, too, (deliver on Monday) so I'm going to be expecting the older panels.

What do I need to do to bring my TV up to date completely? New firmware and a new board, right? What's the process?

edit: also how do you figure out the manufacture date? is it printed on the panel, or is it in the service menu?

Just received my 55GT30 from Amazon and I ordered it on Monday (2 days ago). It left the Indianapolis warehouse via Pilot and was sent to a local "white glove" delivery service here in Toledo, OH. Once it left the warehouse, I called Amazon since I had not heard from the delivery company to schedule my delivery and they gave me their contact info. I called and they said they could deliver it a day early. Yes please! I'm happy to report that I got an October build which should not require a new A board or firmware update. I'm planning on breaking it in with fullscreen content for a hundred hours or so, then will attempt a calibration myself. Any recommendations on calibration discs to use? I have the Avia guide to home theater DVD, but am wondering if there would be a benefit to picking up another disc (blu-ray). Any pointers? I am not patient enough to wait for the hundred hour break in period as recommended by D-Nice so I cannot just use his settings. If I am not happy with my results, I can always have it professionally calibrated. It does look good out of the box in THX mode, but I want to get the best picture possible. I also realized that I need heavier curtains. Anyway, thanks for your help!

Got my 60GT30 delivered today. Ordered it straight from Panasonic so it came via a local shipping company. Going to unbox it tonight to check the build date and start the 100 hr break-in. Thanks to everyone who weighed in on the matter!

edit: love that I've been here for 6 and a half years but still a "New Member"

I got the 55GT30 a couple of weeks ago when Best Buy ran the promo bundle (glasses, camera, speakers, blu-ray player). I guess technically it is a 'GT31' - looks like they just slapped a label over the existing model number badge.

The manufactured date on the back of the set is July 2011. I checked the PDP EEP version and it is 62.46 which seems in line with the post version of others updated 55GT30s.

Does this mean I got the fix even though it is a pre-August build? Makes me wonder if they upgraded these as they were re-bundling for Best Buy.

I have not noticed any issues so far - just want to get it right while it is still under warranty.

It probably depends on where you live, they use third party delivery companies which I imagine vary by geography and price. The guy that delivered my 50" brought it in himself even though it was clearly supposed to be delivered by two people, so I ended up helping him carry it up the stairs, which was doubly ridiculous since he made a point of telling me that he couldn't help set it up once we did, so I got it onto its stand on my own. Fortunately he was good about waiting around while I plugged it in.

Make sure you have a telephone number in your profile when you place the order. I did not, so the delivery co. couldn't call me, and the e-mail they sent went straight to my junk mail folder, so it delayed the delivery by a few days.

Yes, its written on the back of panel (White sticker)....
I didnt upgrade the software.... Just put the USB stick with slide set after powering on, changed the setting as mentioned on page1 (key point is, Slide set related settings are not in Menu. you have to go to Vierra apps to play slide set and settings related to slide set are there..).
I will upgrade the software after 100hrs of slide set play...

Still not sure, how to order A-card... should I just tell Panasonic rep about manufacturing date and ask for replacement.... or say that I am having fluctuation...

Just wanted to share my experience with recieving my 65gt30. Ordered through Amazon. I live in the SF Bay area. So Ceva was the shipping company used. The tv came from Indianapolis. There were two guys to carry it in, and boy, did they sweat. The box is pretty big. They carried it into the room it was to be used in, and slid the top off the box, and pulled down the plastic and plugged the tv in to make sure it survived the trip. The tv started up fine. It is an August build, with a 1221 serial number, The serial number by the way is displayed on the side of the box, so one doesnt even have to open it to see. At least that is how mine was. Have had it for two weeks now, seems fine, and I'm not doing the slides etc. Just have the settings down for a bit and using common sense about what is displayed. On a side note, the price dropped quite a bit from when I purchased, and even though I was out of their 14 day price drop differential period, but still within the 30 day return period, they did refund me the difference. So, I would say ordering from Amazon is not too bad.........

Here is the link to the patch to download if anyone needs it.

This fixes skin tones and other video issues.

Your not supposed to do this if you have had your set calibrated by a professional.

I am sorry to ask this, but my head is swimming from reading through hundreds of posts about the Samsung 8000, Panasonic VT-30, GT-30 and ST-30.

Does the GT-30 have any of the brightness pop issues or other issues?

I was set on the 59" Samsung, but was turned off by the brightness pops reports. The VT-30 is either 55" (too small) or 65" (too big). So I'm at the GT-30 by default now. If there are no major issues then I'll probably get it next time it is on sale.

Again, sorry to ask, but it is hard keeping track of which issues have been fixed and which haven't. I guess I'm just asking what the state of the GT-30 is overall?

the panasonics have had brightness fluctuations, but that has been corrected, I believe any build date after august 2011 has the fix, but if you get one before this build date you can call panasonic and set up a service call and they will fix the display for free. Dont quote me on this but i do think its August. Someone else will chime in im sure. I had a build date of May 2011 and i had the Fbr, so i called Panasonic and they had a tech come out and install the replacement board to fix this issue. So other than that, Panasonic is flawless. I love my picture, and i have tried the samsung 64d8000 and the LGPZ950 and the panasonic in my opinion looks better

I did for a bit, but then I decided to mix up my content and made sure to zoom so that there's no bars. I should just be at around 100 hours now.

Unboxed my set and started the 100 hour D-Nice prep. As stated previously, I purchased directly from Panasonic. October 2011 build date.

How bad is it to have the box laying flat, because when they delivered my gt30 60 today it was laying on the floor of the truck. Another thing is I have a build date of May. Started the slides but with knowing it's been laying on it's side and an old build date I think I am going to return it to amazon.

What would you guys do?

As long as it powers up and does not have a cracked screen, then you are good to go.

Cool.

Any way to test if I have a fbr problem?

I would have refused it before he even tried to unload it. It may look fine now, but there's always a chance that the TV took some nasty bounces on the road and there could be some small hairline cracks in the panel that could get worse after some on-off heat cycles. I'd be concerned that the screen develops cracks a few months down the road and this isn't covered under the warranty.

I'd return it.

Thanks a lot for this. I also ordered direct from Panasonic and was curious as to what build dates they were shipping. Mine should be here some time in the next week. Fingers crossed, I get a post Aug. build.

Seems like, Amazon price drop to clear up the old inventory....
And Panasonic is sending directly the newer hardware...

So much great talk about efficient supply chain and JIT philosophy of these new companies...

I bought a 60GT30 last week @ PC Richards. They were sold out of the 55" which is what I originally wanted because there EPP sale price was $1198 & the 60" so they offered me a floor model for $1450. I was very happy except for the build date was from June. Today my wife noticed during bright scenes there is a ESPN image in lower right corner & a line were their ticker scrolls across the bottom. This can easily be seen while using the scroll bar. We didn't notice this last week & I was away from Friday till Monday. I'd watched the Monday night football game (my Giants got killed) from the dvr and fell asleep with the post game show on. I have the pixel orbiter enabled and set to THX. I know the store had ESPN on a lot of the TVs, how do I tell if this is image retention from MNF or burn in from the store. Should I run the scroll bar or run the break in images to try to fix this? Should I see image retention 40 hrs later or is this burn in and I should return it to the store? I probably won't find it this low again

I am hearing real noticeable buzzing/humming sound coming from the back of the panel.... As this is my first Plasma, cant say whether is normal or above normal...
Any experience... Will it reduce with time... does putting voltage regulator helps in minimizing... Or even hanging on wall will help.... At this point, TV is in between the room, and this annoying sound is filling the whole room, esp at this quiet time (1am EST)...
Or should I start packing the stuff to send back to Amazon...

I have had great luck with my Pioneer Kuro and was looking at the new Panasonics for a Lake House, but was worried with glare, but it seems most of the LED TVs use a shinny surface as well. Current model I was looking at was TCP50GT30, nice to see the prices coming down.
