Review of the GT30 is now up on cnet. Seems pretty good overall except for the same issues being discussed about on here (gamma, rising blacks).

Still on the fence about going with this or the VT30. The waiting game continues.

Now I actually don't think I want the GT30... CNet's review is weird because they gave it 4 stars ("Excellent") but at the end of the review, the majority of picture settings got "Average" or "Poor" marks (Gamma, etc.)

WTF? This TV seems like a mixed bag

I think the whole image flashing was a result of whatever was used to record. The portion with the problem seem to be the tiny area that comes up when he zooms the site. Due to the poor video quality it's really hard to see what's going on there.

Tazz, I wouldn't worry if I were you. I think some people see it more than others and you may one of those who don't. Wait until you get your set.

I know that some people were delighted with the written review but I thought the video review wasn't so hot. I've watched a lot of Cnet video reviews and this one was sad, IMO.

Have been watching for the contrast shifts since getting my GT30 last Friday and have not noticed it when viewing a variety of cable and dvd sources. I have however seen it when calibrating the panel with test patterns. When bringing up the 10% level pattern there is a noticeable brightening after 1-2 seconds and then it is stable. No other levels show this behavior. Overall I'm very happy with it (huge jump in PQ vs. my old 600U) and it calibrates very well in the custom mode. Will post some results later.

I was just poking around BB's website and they're now showing the GT30 series and have them tagged as "coming soon". All four sizes are shown at MSRP.

The cnet review looks great. I'm sure panasonic will cone out with a firmware update to fix this gamma, but how about this tv's ability to properly handle 1080p/24?! Nice!

The first GT30 would do the brightness shifts on 10, 20 and 30% stimuli patterns. I won't know what the replacement will do until it has finished the panel prep procedure.

Yours doing it on 10% only indicates you have one that does not fluctuate as much (the ST30 I have acts just like yours).

Zoyd,

Your first calibration attempt looks very promising. Would you zip up the chc file and post it? As you know, I'm sitting on the fence about buying this model.

Keep us updated on the fluctuation situation. Unfortunately, I'm one of those that is very sensitive to this type of unnatural behavior.

yes, so far it's minimal to non-existent on mine during the kind of stuff I watch. Also, the AVSHD disk 10% pattern didn't show the effect whereas the GetGray disk does, I assume due to the differing window sizes. The only other place I've noticed it was the pandora screen saver, it's a rotating window that changes size and you can see the dark border shift intensity while the box changes size.

@exander: all the settings are available from the user menu custom->pro settings

Loving my new gt30 btw. Had a samsung 7000 led from 2010 but it had far too many problems so I took it back. Picture I get with the gt30 puts the samsung to shame!! My only problem with the panny is it doesn't include glasses, I really want to check out the 3d.

Anyway of getting free glasses from panasonic or does anyone know where to get cheap ones?

The chc file is for those who have the HCFR software so they can see what the measurements look like. The settings that generated those measurements are in the first link (pdf file).

Found the settings but I don't have a lot of the options the settings have. Black emphasis etc.

I have uk 50 inch gt30 would that make a difference?
