Had mt GT30 calibrated by Gregg Loewen today. It was a pleasurable experience (I have used him before), and THX mode wasnt too bad. Colors of course were good, but grayscale was bit red in Warm2 and he worked all that out.

Did an interesting test with THX mode (mid panel brightness but correct LUT's) vs Custom mode mid panel (incorrect LUT's) and the resulting charts were pretty cool:

Thanks for the tip, Digger44. I picked up a pair, and they even qualified for Prime free shipping ;-). Can they be safely charged via a Griffin USB wall charger I have for my iPod? I know there is obviously a helluva difference in battery and charging circuitry size between the two.

My son and I watched Frankenweenie on our GT30 last night and decided to try out our recently purchased PS2 glasses and the Panasonics I bought a few weeks back. The disc was a Netflix rental, so wasn't a 3D BR (grrr!). We fired up the GT30's 2D-3D converter and thought it looked decently "3D". After watching a while, however, I noticed a strange subtle shadow would appear in the upper left lens, then move across to the right side and back. Any ideas? This was with the Panasonic glasses and I didn't try it wit6h the PS3s. The BR player is a Panasonic BDP-220.

Not sure on that, my biggest issue with 3D is how bright the letter box bars get.

Not sure what that could be...Have you tried a 3D disc to see if it does it too..My bet would be something with the 2D to 3D conversion...When i first got my panny 3D i was all into doing the conversion as i didn't have any true 3D content yet..Once you do get a 3D disc you will probably never even bother with the conversion again..I don't ...
Even 3net has decent content ,,give it a look too to see if you notice it

We buy very few movies, so really haven't considered it until now. I took a look at AVS Recommended 3D titles and thought I might try Imax: Under the Sea...it's pretty reasonable on Amazon right now. Problem is I can't afford to buy alll the titles that look interesting, and can't justify investing in a library many of the other titles are movies my son is too young for or I'd never get the wife to watch. I'll keep trying the conversion function until Netflix gets off their butts and starts offering 3D. BTW, I asked Netflix why no 3D titles yet, and their reply was "they were studying the issue to guage customer interest in 3D". I encourage everyone who'd like to be able to rent 3D movies from Netflix to call them and bug them to give it a try ;-)

Sorry, you most likely bought them already, I believe they are one size fits all.

I bought the PS2 glasses. Great price compared to the Pannies, but they too don't really conform to my face very well. I heard some Samsung glasses fit like a pair of sunglasses, and neither the Panasonic or PS2s do. The Sony glasses do have a bit larger lens though, which is nice. I think the Panasonics are more comfortable...the Sony glasses pinch in a couple spots and the plastic ic a but harder edge. I can't really comment on how well they render 3D since I only just bought the IMAX Under the Sea disc, our first 3D disc, last week and haven't had time to A/Bd them yet. For 2D-3D watching they seem fairly equal.

Can I use an iPod wall charger on either pair, or do wall chargers put out too many amps?

Looks like a great idea, but at the moment we can't swing another subscription service. and at this stage I'm not sure how many 3D movies I'd actually rent (my wife gets sick watching in 3D). It's be nice to just try one once in a while from Netflix, but time will tell when they feel they want to invest in it.

Folks, I have an issue with GT30 and Viera TV remote control apps, both Android and iOS versions. It used work just fine on my Android phone or my iPod Touch until the TV firmware was upgraded to 2.220. After that none of the mobile device, neither Android nor iOS, running the latest versions of their respective Viera remote control apps can discover the TV.

The TV is connected to wireless home broadband router via Cat5e and phone/tablet/iPod are connected via wireless to the same network.

The funny thing that I downloaded another Android app for the phone called "Panasonic TV Media" from Google Play Store and it finds my Viera GT30 without any issues but the official Panasonic Viera Remote Control App is unable to discover the TV. And that makes me believe that TV is OK but it's the application last updated to version 2.11 on September 10, 2012 that has issues.

Can someone try to verify whether it's working or not on their GT30? Thanks in advance.

Issue is resolved. I have Verizon FiOS and the root cause was in the Actiontec gateway configuration. Verizon pushed new firmware at some point and enabled IGMP proxy. Once I disabled this IGMP proxy all was clear. Now I can use both Android and iOS Viera remote control app. So in case you have experienced the same issue just disable IGMP proxy.

Noonin, you are seeing this in the glasses correct? It may be a reflection of something behind you, when I wear the PS3 glasses, I can see my rear speakers reflecting in the outer corners of the glasses because the lenses are so big.

I have 55 GT30 and a 50 inch Samsung plasma. The panny is doing great and the Samsung just died Sunday. It's the second time it has broke. Be carefully what you wish for?

I'm having an issue with my GT-30 that I'm hoping someone here might be able to shed some light on. When using the component input on my set, I am appear to be getting interference and noise in the form of horizontal lines. There's about 2-3 of these and they are about an inch in thickness and are a light gray color. They are very hard to detect when video is in motion, but when there is a still image, or a solid color, especially red, the interference is very apparent. They also flicker slightly.

Originally, I thought I must have some sort of a ground-loop problem. However, I unplugged all other devices running into my APC surge protector, worked my way up be re-attaching all power cords for my devices, but the problem still remained regardless of what was or wasn't plugged in. I also plugged the set into a different outlet and no change. I first discovered this issue while playing some video games; bright, solid images are common place in older games, so that is how I came upon this. Interestingly enough, I do not see any of these lines when using the composite, HDMI, or VGA inputs. This appears to be strictly related to the component input.

The only option in video settings that looked like it might have hope of working was the Video Noise Reduction option. Switching between weak, medium, and strong had no effect, though.

Anyone have any thoughts on this? Could my component breakout adapter be faulty, or is it likely to be an internal problem?

Here is a picture below that depicts what I am seeing. My camera would be not pick up the noise well enough, so I drew in what I am seeing, but it is certainly not as dramatic as the photo illustrates. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Anyone have any thoughts as to what I said above? I was hoping some other owners might be able to check out there video under component for any similarities to what I described. Is there any chance that by having the breakout cables they are causing some noise and/or loss of signal due to the added connection? I contacted Panasonic about this issue and described it at length, but all they wanted to do was have me schedule an appointment to have a service technician come out.

Try directly connected into the wall.
Also try another circuit to eliminate that being the problem.
If that fails, Panasonic service is the way to go.

I don't know if I am blind or stupid by I can't seem to find Netflix on my set. Looking under vieracast. Am I missing something?

I was under the impression that Netflix was supported.
