How do you test a midbass/woofer?

I've got a pair of old school 12" and 16" woofers that I am considering for a possible ZilchWave project.
How do I test them for "beaming"? Anything else I should test them for to make sure they are compatible for this application? They would need to be flat up to ~1200hz I think.

Gotta have more information than that.

Is this something REW can tell me with graphs?

I hear horror stories about beaming.
