Well, not sure if this is the cause or just coincidence, but the TV screen went blank at the end of a couple of runs of an application under Vudu (the Dolby Digital one and I think the other one was a movie preview) and I couldn't get a pic back with any buttons EXCEPT the power button on the remote would bring the TV back to life (I'm sorry but I don't know if it went off at the end of the app runs or if I turned it off and then back on).
Well, like a glutton for punishment I guess, (actually, I kept figuring it was just a flaw in the Vudu app and was no big deal -- just inconvenient), I went into Vudu a third time, and this time, the tv would NOT reset/recycle in any way after the app finished playing.... the "power light" or icon under the word Sharp will flash but that's it. It's either one slow flash and a fast flash or one fast flash and then a slow flash, not sure which comes first.
I have tried unplugging it, for as long as 30 minutes, and plugging it back in, but I get the same thing... won't turn on and the flashing icon... one slow and one fast.
Now, of course, during the first NFL playoff game on Saturday, I got all excited and started calling friends and invited them over to watch the 1pm Eastern / Noon Central game tomorrow on my brand new amazing television that currently is nothing more than a large blank screen in my living room.
So.... the obvious question.... any ideas? Obviously, I'm going to call the Aquos helpline/service line when they open in about six hours. The Sam's Club I bought the set at opens two hours before kick off... in theory, I could pack it back up, return it for a different set, and have a new one in time for kickoff EXCEPT I had to enlist the help of a friend and his minivan on Saturday to get it home the first time -- none of my vehicles will hold the thing, not without laying it flat which I really don't want to do.
Take my planned party out of the equation... first, any suggestions on anything I can do to get this powered back up? Is it just a coincidence that I was in the internet apps at the time and something else is the real cause? If I can't get it back running again, do you think replacing it (even though it's pain for me to do so) would be best or allowing Sharp to send a repairman (or even Sam's Club since I am under my extended warranty from there as well) would be best?
(P.S. I soooo wanted to (and was going to!) write a positive report about this set. When it worked, I absolutely loved it.)
