Clouding can be an issue with this TV. I suggest you search the thread for the messages that discuss clouding here. Several have pictures in them that you can compare your set to to decide if you have a defective set.

What would be lost by purchasing this unit instead of a 2012 model. Is the unit a full array or side lit and what would the advantage/disadvantages be. I am not interested in 3D. I presently use DirecTV but may change to cable. I have an Onkyo receiver that I use to send all inputs thru one HDMI cable to my current Sony XBR3 52" unit. I use an LG BR DVD unit to access the internet and watch Netflix extensively. Today, until on hand runs out, there is a very low price at Frys Electronics.

Hey saguaro this set is full array. It does Netflix and vudu. My opinion is that if you can get it then you should. I own the 732 and I love it!! No problems whatsoever! I also have mine connected to an onkyo receiver. The pq is amazing!!

Guys, please help me out.

I can buy the LC-70LE734U for $1400 delivered. Is that a good deal or should I pass? I am thinking of getting a 73" Mitsu Refurb for $850 instead.

I would go with the 734u, I read about people having trouble with the Mitsubishi.

No real problems with the Mitsubishi. They just couldn't sell them for $2000 anymore.

I have heard about problems with the Sharp as well. On a 1-10 scale , how happy are you with the 70LE734U? Are the 2012 models that much better? And does it have 240 or not?

I've been totally happy with my 70LE734U, zero problems. It's not 240 Hz. Not an issue as far as I'm concerned.

I would not buy a refurbished anything. Once a problem child, always a problem child.

I have the 732u and no problems whatsoever. I love my 70"!!

I may either get the Mitsubishi I talked about for $830 or the Vizio 70 inch because it has gotten better reviews than last years' Sharp. Thank you for the feedback.

I had a 65 inch mits since 2006, and went to a 70 inch sharp - I don't miss the fan noise from that tv..That may be a good price in the short term, but think about the cost of replacing the lamp every few years. The mits is pretty deep - is there a warranty on this item? 850 is an ok price.for the mits, but $1400 for the sharp - that's a deal. Even cnet gave the sharp a good review. It would be a good idea to try to look at both sets(the sharp and the vizio you mentioned) before basing a purchase on reviews alone.

Anyone happen to know the size of the screws for the stand assembly? There are 12, 8 long and 4 short, Sharp wants $14.00 I could probably get them at the hardware store today for about $3.00, if I knew what size!
I put my TV on the wall from the start, still have the stand, no screws! I need to put it on the stand temporally during room changes!
Yeah, it sounds kinda petty, but in my mind it's kinda petty for Sharp to be charging that for a few little screws!

There are only 4 (short) screws that attached the TV to the stand. If you are just temporarily setting the TV on the stand you do not even need them.

You can take the stand to a a hardware store and see what fits for the 8 long screws.

If I can find mine at home tonight I'll post up the sizes.

Thanks, by temporary, I mean until I get the room finished, that could be up to two months, the way I work!

Just stopping by to say Hello and that I'm excited I'll be joining the Many here who chose the Sharp LC-70LE732U as their NEW 70" LCD!

Mine is ordered, and on it's way to the seller in Cincinnati... So MAYBE tomorrow or Saturday at the latest? But by Saturday night, I'll be in 70" of LCD Heaven!!! I'll get some pics once it's set up, and show before & after of the fmaily room. Can't WAIT to see how the PS3 games look compared to the Samsung HLP6163W that's currently in there. Just so HAPPY I finally get to upgrade from DLP's!!

That's a BRAND NEW LC-70LE732! Got a helluva deal on it!!! Had to drive 1.5 hours each way to get it, but Oh So worth it and the diesel fuel I used! hehehe

I am very sorry I use my "dum"phone for the pics...! It's just convienent.

Here's the Samsung HLP6163W DLP that the Sharp took the place of. It's going to the in-laws as a gift and their 1st BIG screen!

And here's the NEW SHARP!!!! These pics do NOT do this TV justice! Just out of the box settings, and I'm amazed....! The wife was shocked as well! We're gonna get it Calibrated REALLY soon, just because of the 3 MONSTER panel TV's we bought, this is the Diamond standard, so it's getting the Premium treatment.

And an update.

I got an email from Sharp saying I can sign up for extended warranty now at a discount. Gonna do that! Best offer ever for a 3 service plan. So AWESOME!!! And wanted to say I'm SO Enjoying this Huge TV!!! WOW! Can't say enough how beautiful this display is, even with only some minor adjustments. I will spring for the Pro Calibration soon, but I just can't believe how amazing this Sharp is!!!

The ONLY issue (now, keep in mind I said I moved from a 61" DLP to LCD) I have with this TV isn't the display itself. We use AT&T Uverse as our cable. And when watching Uverse, there's black "aspect" bars on top/bottom, like I'm used to. But, there's bars along the sides also, so we essentially only get a 55" view instead of full screen? I went into Uverse settings and changed to 1080p display and it accepts it, but then the onscreen guide for Uverse is "zoomed" so far in, it can't display channels?! The only way to get the Guide to display properly is to change Uverse settings to 720p, but then watching a 55" is what we see...?

Maybe just a Uverse thing? But I didn't get this 732U for TV alone. DVD's look fantastic! And Netflix is gorgeous! PS3 blows my mind how sharp & clear the games all look!! It's just cable that sucks on a screen this size?! Maybe it's time for Comcast?

have you set the tv to the "dot to dot" setting in the view button on the remote? I have Uverse and no problems with width or using the 1080p mode.

Yes, I did actually remember somewhere in this thread or another from this forum saying use dot-to-dot setting. But... The display is still only about 3/4 of my screen. Hard to say exactly how much is shown, but black bars on top/bottom and both sides...?! Picture looks great! Can see LOTS of details! But, not fitting correctly?

And, trying to explain this again, I went into Uverse options> settings> aspect ratio and set for 1080p (there's only 4 choices, and IIRC that's 480p, 720p, 720Widescreen, and 1080p) and no matter which I choose, my screen displays the same "narrow" view. I zoom in (can't remember exactly what pic setting that is?) I cut off the guide. The picture doesn't distort like my DLP would zoomed in, but the guide isn't visible enough to see the channel numbers.

Maybe it's the Uverse? I don't have that problem with Netflix thru the Apps or with PS3. Just Uverse? Maybe my box needs an upgrade? Or maybe I've had Uverse too long and they've updated their modem/boxes since?

There is no 1080p option, just 1080i. Are you using a Cisco Uverse box? You said all of your other sources are fine, and DVD content looks great. I would ask AT&t for assistance and a new box.
