Forza 4!

I saw this new video of Forza 4 off another forum and wow... this game looks better and better! can't wait to see an HD version of the vid!

AWESOME until the part where he said " No controller required "

I don't want to believe that Forza 4 will be kinect only. It would have been really nice if he would have made it clear and said something like

" play with a controller or wheel or nothing at all but your kinect "
If those graphics are produced from the shipped game we are all in for a serious treat. 16 player online races is going to be hectic. Looking into corners with head tracking is huge.

We'll have to start an AVS car club right?

Some people just tense up at the mere mention of Kinect. Forza 4 will be primarily controlled by controllers. Does the obvious really need to be stated?

I've been following the developments of Forza 4 from the beginning and watched the kinect controller question come up over and over. My point was they could've easily put the debate to rest by stating it will work with all controllers instead of only mentioning the kinect.

This game and a decent new MS wheel release is all I need

BTW I went out and bought a kinect when I saw you will be able to use it for head traking and interacting with the cars so I'm ready.

Yeah they could've, so I suppose it's a bit tone-deaf of Turn 10 not to be more explicit. I guess I just wish they didn't have to be. Kinect is adding to Forza, not replacing or taking away.

Anyways, Forza 4 is looking good and I'm excited.

the cool thing is I learned it's pronounced "fort-zuh".

here's another vid and one the game developers says Forza with a T multiple times... can't believe I went all these years pronouncing it wrong...

LOL, yeah, I found the Fort-zah thing funny too. Learn new things all the time I guess.

Tell me something, do you guys find that whole "look around the car in depth and learn tid-bits about it" exciting? Personally that is a whole lot of "meh" for me. Like maybe I'd do it once, but it seems like a whole lot of detail placed in an area that just won't get a whole lot of use.

But maybe that's just me?

I'm playing TDU2 and learned Ibiza is really pronounced e-be-tha

I think it would be fun to check the cars out in depth, open the doors, drop the top or position the spoiler. Having the ability to check out the interior gives one the opportunity to admire the car's design. Is it a high priority, no and I certainly wouldn't want them to sacrifice something more important to enable this feature but I for one think it will be a nice " extra " feature and I'm sure that I will give each car a thorough going over at least once.

Well, it's the closest thing I'll ever come to being inside a Ferrari or a Lexus LF-A... so I'm all for it.

Kotaku put the vid up again, this time not a Youtube vid.

http://kotaku.com/#!5788195/purporte...inect-features

the video is already out there so I don't know how MS can put it back in the bottle...

I just played some FM3 and it reminded me of its biggest flaw: The starting grid. Who ever thought up the auto revving external camera start is crazy. I don't have pedals with a clutch, so the way Forza already handles starts with manuals is bad enough. Just let me hold a darn rev for my starts. Especially at the drag strip. Also, qualifying laps for starting position would be awesome.

here's headtracking with the TrackIR. if the Kinect version is as good, it's going to be awesome...

i read that Forza 4 will have body leans rather than head rotation. maybe because it's easier to track a body lean rather than a head rotation. maybe it's to simplify setup (since trackir gives you full control over sensitivity and it can take awhile to dial in how much of a rotation you want). who knows. we won't know until there's a developer's blog going.

With Kinect eating up CPU cycles and memory, what are they taking out?

Wow your trying waaayyyy to hard. Plus everyone knows what your stance is with anything Xbox related so please stop with this BS question. Why not just contact Turn 10 and see what answer they provide you.

He's an Xbox Hater who only visits the Xbox section to complain. Check his post history. Its so sad, he posts 99% of the time in the PS3 section.. and the 1% he posts here in the Xbox section is always negative and complaining. To make it even worse, I doubt if he even owns an Xbox anymore. He bought one the original 360's and comes here every now and then to still complain about it.

I mean complaining a couple of times.. I could see.. but for several years now? You would think a grown adult man would have something better to do in life. Its old already.. get over it!

As far as Forza 4.. thats an absolute 1st day buy for me.

I can't wait! The bump to 16 online is overdue, so great news.
Can't see the vid here but as a long time Forza fan who's been clamoring for 16 player races all I can say is "about damn time!" I'm still racing every Wednesday night on Forza 3, been doing it on Forza games since March of '08!

16 at at time?

Well damn that just might get me back.

Not via Kinect though .. screw that.

Guess I better learn to drive with a controller though.

Or try your luck with another Fanatec wheel

You need to get back into it, while I still love the racing it's just not the same as it was back with the old Forza 2 crew...I miss you, Waldo, Skinnee, even that crazy Arby guy (and of course drunk Spidey)!

Will they fix the online multiplayer? Custom lobbies like Forza 2?

Trying to hard? Kinect is a resource hog. How many old games have they patched in Kinect support for? Zero. It takes system RAM and CPU cycles. I'm guessing going from FM3 to FM4 and adding features like 16 cars on screen is taxing, so where are they getting resources for Kinect? Is it a separate mode that strips down AI, physics, etc?

But by your response, you don't care about such technical things. Enjoy your bromance, ignorance loves company.

I'm very curious about how the head tracking will work via Kinect. If you start out looking at the screen and turn your head to simulate looking around the car, you wont be looking at the tv anymore. So what would be the point?
I'm sure I'm missing something.

Didn't someone say it's more of a lean to turn the view? That would make more sense because I agree with you.

I wondered this as well but if you watch the video the onlysublime posted for the Track IR on the previous page it gives you an idea of how it could work.
