unless something has changed (and some of my 360 habits are carried over from the old days), you can't copy MP3s or other audio files to your Xbox hard drive from external media. this originally was to placate the content providers. Remember when the music companies thought they could stop MP3s from exploding onto the scene and keep people using music CDs?

I keep my MP3's on a thumb drive and use it for custom soundtracks on any 360 game. I initially tried burning mp3's to cd to rip to my 360's hard drive, but it wasn't maintaining the track information (except for retail disc, in which case that information would appear for each track). Of course, you can't transfer them to your 360's hard drive from a thumb drive. But it works just fine with the thumb drive plugged in. And you can do the same with a mp3 player by plugging it into a USB port on the 360.

It beats streaming since my PC blows out a lot of warm air and I'd rather it wasn't heating the room up just to accomplish what a thumb drive plugged into my 360 can do. And there's no configuration work to do like you'd have by setting up streaming (Which I did once just to see how it worked and recall it being a bit of a pain).

Leo, I just today played around with this a bit more. I have a Zune HD, and I guess I never realized how easy it was to plug it into the USB port and have the 360 play the music. Now I'll just create a "driving" playlist, turn off the Forza music, and do some serious cruising tonight!

Just fire up your own music. It will automatically disable the ingame music for Forza (No need to do something like manually turning down the music volume in Forza 4's options).

I keep a lot of classic videogame music from racing games of the past (Remember when they just didn't license 50 or so tracks of cheap junk pop music for a soundtrack to a racing game?), such as Passing Breeze from Outrun, to fire up when I'm in a racer and want music that fits the theme.

Or I play some oldies like The Beach Boys and The Righteous Brothers and race to that.

The 787B, Audi S1 and Audi R18 are my top 3 for this pack. I'll also enjoy the Polo GTI as well. Rest are good in my book but Ramage Charger?!?!! blah!

totalownership, I didn't get that car and I'm an LCE!

I also hit 1:13.840 in the Miata-Road Atlanta rivals to get the Ferrari unicorn car by beating CJ Wilson, saw my time posted on the leaderboards and when I went to check last it showed me as 1:15.XXX!!!

Ok guys I have started developing a intercontinental / inter-forum race. So far I have 3 solid forums on board with 4 racers each and a fourth with 2. But I'm really looking for a forum that can bring 4 racers to represent their forum. So I thought of AVSer's.

In this promo vid it just started with 2 but as I explained above it'll be more...





The race will be of WTCC/BTCC style. We have pre-made tunes that will be used. All liveries are made and I will make a professional livery for AVS. I can just adapt one I already have made.

If anyone here is interested please let me know. We are in a shakedown/test phase right now so you will not be coming into the series late. It will take place Saturday at 11 AM EST. The following video shows how the series should look as far as racing and pace as this is based off my last WRTCC series which was a huge success.

The Porsche expansion pack rumor is true and it will be for THIS Forza not the next Forza!

30 Posches and 250 achievement points.

Also, a new Forza game is coming this fall developed by Dirt veterans. Holy crap!

AWESOME news that Porsche is coming back to Forza

I enjoy playing TDU2 just for the things you can't do in Forza. I've always wished that Forza had a free roam section to drive around and encounter other online players. It would also be nice for finding scenic spots to take pictures of your cars. Wouldn't need to be a huge map. Maybe 1/5 the size of Ibiza with hills a coastline and a city with a day to night to day cycle.

The other thing TDU2 has that I wish Forza had is the way you can have garages and put your cars in them and walk around them. I've built quite a collection in TDU2 and its nice to just check them out like that. If Forza was able to expand on the " home space " and create scenic garages in which you could group your cars and check them out in an Autovista way it would be perfect for me.

It sounds like Forza Horizon will get a little closer to what I hope for. If that proves popular and successful, perhaps in the next gen xbox Forza game they will be able to include all the elements to create a truly epic driving game.

I don't think we have space for a four man group but there may be one or two spots open at the most. Last week we had 15 but network problems put a monkey wrench in the inaugural race so we postponed it to next Saturday coming up.

anyone with the speed wheel willing to share settings? I can't dial in control that feels really great. or know any sites that will explain the following settings?

right now I'm kinda happy with speed wheel setting 1 with the following:
with these settings sometimes I totally feel dialed in and other times I'm out of control.

I hear the green "orbs" on the wheel is supposed to relay info while racing. What exactly is that info?

well, I haven't looked too much at the green lights while racing but the few times I saw it, I noticed it when there's a change. like when I hit the gas button, it flash on and then turn off so if I press/release/press/release the gas pedal, it'll go on and off and on and off. or when I hit the bumps lining the side of the road, they'll flash (as if it's replacing force feedback!). or someone bumps me, it'll flash.

i've since dialed it further down to the following and may keep it here until I get some kind of explanation what each of these mean:

What about when you're losing grip. Do they flash giving you a warning you're about to lose it since there's no force feedback belt and motor involved?

I haven't paid close enough attention. I'll check it out for ya.

There is vibration feedback but no force feedback. And there's a bug in the software where sometimes the vibration is strong, sometimes it's weak, and sometimes it doesn't even work. People said to toggle the vibration setting if it gets wacky so I'll try that.
