Wrong. AirPlay license currently allows companies like pioneer and denon to stream music from iTunes. No extra hardware needed. There are no video licensees right now. If there are in the future, then you won't need an appletv. Appletv sales don't bring apple enough revenue. It is the portable iOS devices and iTunes content ubiquity.
