Samsung TV & Glasses Won't Pair

Thread Starter
I ordered a Samsung UN55D8000 (2011, led) that came with a 3D kit. I ended up returning the TV because of a defect, but decided to go with a PN59D8000 (2011, plasma).

I paired my glasses (they use bluetooth) with the first TV, however since the kit is supposed to be compatible with both tvs, we were told to keep the kit.

Now however, the glasses refuse to pair with the new TV. When they are turned on, they just blink green and red for a few seconds (though or sometimes longer).

I've taken the battery out, held the button down for varying lengths of time. Got the glasses close to the tv, far away. I can't think of anything else to try, other than exchanging them.

Help?

I had the same problem. When it blinks red and green, they are trying to sync. I found holding the glasses close to the bottom right corner of the tv (location of bluetooth sender maybe?) when that red and green switching is happening synced the glasses up in about 2 or 3 seconds. I can confirm this works on a 55D7000, so unless Samsung moved the location of the bluetooth sender on the plasma, it should work for you as well. I got the suggestion from a Samsung rep.

Lemme know if that helps, because I'm sure you're not the only one if that issue.

Just to over this again: When the tv is on, you hold down the power button on the glasses and the light on the glasses blink red & green for a short period.

The TV doesn't indicate anything at all?

They probably did. Everything seems to be reversed on the plasmas, controls are on the left instead of the right. It's weird. I will try that, though I did hold them close to the tv (near the central logo), which I would think would be close enough, but who knows - it's worth a shot.

Yes, while they are blinking the tv doesn't indicate anything.

Do you have a twitter account? The @Samsungservice account seems to be pretty responsive. You could try asking them.

I'll check to see if there's anything in the TV menu to flush bluetooth state or something. I wonder if the pairing is failing because the glasses won't release their current pairing info.

I may do that.

But I think something is wrong with the bluetooth functionality itself, hardware or software, because the qwerty remote doesn't work either, which I didn't even think about until now.

So we called Samsung tech support and they are wanting to come out and service the tv, which makes me nervous.

I am having the same exact problem trying to pair my glasses with my TV (PN59D6500).

Was your problem resolved? Was tech support needed?

I just got a 64" 550 and the glasses won't pair either? Anyone have a solution. Can't imagine both glasses are broken?

Sorry, I forgot to post when I got it fixed.

What worked for me was unplugging the TV and leaving it unplugged for at least a minute. I guess the bluetooth receiver in the TV needs to be reset that way.
Once I plugged it back in and turned it on, the glasses paired with no problems.

Hopefully that's the same problem you've got as well - let me know if my solution works.

As a side note, I've just noticed some of what looks like tiny air bubbles on my screen or the outer film of my screen. Anyone else getting this?

You rock

Tried it and it worked... Thanks for following up on the thread.. Much appreciated. Now time to watch a 3D movie and see what this baby is capable of.

Just resurrecting this post..
I'm unable to pair both my qwerty remote and glasses to my UN46D7000.
Unplugging the set didn't fix it.
The remote side will get me into Smarthub but it's dead on the qwerty side.

My extra pair of Samsung 3D glasses have batteries. They occasionally won't pair even with new batteries. I just slide the battery compartment open and closed and they pair right up.

Update: Samsung is sending a tech guy. Via phone they narrowed it down to a problem with the TV bluetooth.
Got me to see if my cellphone picked up the TV bluetooth -it didn't.

I bought a samsung un46d.. and IMHO it is a piece of high tech garbage! The qwerty remote is impossible to use without numerous mishaps.I should have known better.the technology has too many bugs in it.I think samsung is experimenting with us.Surfing the net is joke and after 6 mos of very little use I cant pair the freaking glasses with the tv.I'm sure the bluetooth is not working since my cell phone wont detect it which means I'll probably need to get a service for this piece of junk!My advice....stay away from smart tvs until these companies get thier act together.

hello, i got the same problem since a few days ago, when i contact the online samsung support they told me that there must be a problem with the bluetooth adapter and the tv must need to go to service, someone have any other possible solution for that freaking problem? im not in usa and its gonna be really expensive to send it back this piece of junk:mad:

Not sure how it works where you are but here in Canada Samsung's tech rep came right to my house and replaced the gulity circuit card.

I am going through the same problem. I have a PN59D8000 and nothing will pair with the tv (qwerty keyboard, 3D glasses, or iphone). I've tried the reset and unplugging the tv for a while that has been previously suggested. Still not working. I have a service ticket ongoing with Samsung. I'll update when I learn any more or resolve the issue.

THANK YOU for helping me figure it out, its been an all day project and you are the BEST!! glasses and qwerty now work. Just unplug the damn tv for a minute at least!

The method of finding out if it's the Bluetooth circuit card is by seeing if your phone will pick up the TV's Bluetooth.
If it doesn't then it's the TV's circuit card.
It happened to me a few months ago and been working fine since.

Oh Man You are truly a SAVIOR!! I've had my 46" LED Samsung 3D Smart TV for a little under 1 year now and i've had no problems
recently We had some house work done and had to move the tv to the back room so naturally we had to unplug the television. We'll
hooking everything back up I noticed my 3D glasses would not Turn on or SYNC to the TV? I thought the batteries were dead because
when i pressed the power button nothing happened, but when i held down the Power button for several sec the lights Blinked Green
and then red again like the power wAS TRYING TO POWER ON.

We eventually called Geek Squad whom we purchased out warranty through and they said it sounded like my Receiver went out,
and they went on to say many people had been calling to report that they're glasses weren't pairing anymore so he went through
some local trouble shooting with me over the phone like go to settings see if my blu toothe on my television was on and see if
I had wifi which all had nothing to do with why the glasses weren't pairing.

So they ordered one of their "NON_GEEKS" to come out to my home and try to fix the problem. I was at work when they came
but the gentlemen who came told my wife that the IR Power board went out and they would have to order a new one, after
he spent around 2 hours on the phone with his tech support agent over the phone while he was at our home trying to fix
the problem, so they said they would have to order this part specially because this wasn't something they carried around ,
but he said as soon as the part comes in i would be able to watch our tv.

TODAY IS 11-21 the night before THANKSGIVING and I came across your ARTICLE that said try to "TURN THE TV OFF for about 2 minutes
and then turn it back on"

this was all after spending about 45 minutes searching the internet for "HOW TO INSTALL AN IR POWER BOARD for an LED Samsung TV"
i had no luck at all, i was going to try to install this part myself, because tomorrow is THANKSGIVING and Geek Squad would not have been
able to come out tomorrow so this would be another day i would go without my glorious 3D.

LONG STORY SHORT- I came across your conversation, and gave it a shot and sure enough.... ONCE I turned the TV back on after being powered down
the glasses sync'd right up, its been about 1 1/2 weeks since i've been without my 3D because "GEEK Squad" told me something was wrong and
absolutely nothing was wrong, which means theres probably Hundreds of customers with tv's that have not been broken that they've referred
to parts that didn't have anything to do with this problem. k

THANK YOU AGIN FOR YOUR HELP!

WE had the same problem and GEEK SQUAD couldn't even fix the problem they made up some problem and ordered some part form SAMSUNG CALLED THe BN96-18099D Assy Board " and said they would come and install this part, they said that the receiver that reaches the signal from our 3d glasses had went out and they would order this part and install it, its been about 2 weeks and i've been without our 3D tv, came across ya'lls article and unplugged our tv and sure enough..... THEY SYNCD right up! Ours stopped working after we had moved it because we had our floors done and had to move the tv into another room and when we plugged it back up it wouldn't sync i thought the batteries were dead in the glasses went and purchased 30 dollar batteries for all our glasses and come to find out its not the tv or glasses ..
THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR HELP AND the time to post this so someone else could learn

PLEASE DONT USE GEEK SQAUD, they're IDIOTS< not GEEKS>... wheres the real geeks when you need them??!!

Hello my friend,

You truly are a SAVIOR. I had the same problem with the 3D glasses and no 3D image. I tried really everything until I found your post. I even brought the smart remote back to the shop and they incoived me 134 €, I refused to pay because the TV is still under warranty. It took several weeks and when they agreed it was under warranty I tried to used it and it still didnt work (no reaction from remote and red/green flikkering on the 3D glasses), very frustrating. Following your post I unplugged the TV and replugged it and by miracle the Bluetooth works again and I have 3D again. The IR blaster still doesn't sync but that's no problem for me. Thanks for posting this, you're the greatest problem solver !

You Rock! I have the same problem and called Samsung custumer service and did not workout. But your trik worked. Thanks.
Bingo! Did what you suggested, unplugged the tv for about 2 minutes. plugged it back in and turned it on and pressed the button on the top of the glasses and they immediately synced. As a note the TV is a Samsung UN55D7000 TV and the glasses were the SSG-3050GB and had been working fine for almost a year before this problem appeared. I even downloaded the newest version ware for the TV and it didn't help until it was unplugged and plugged back in. Thanks for the tip!

This worked for me. I spent four hours chatting with Samsung help and was really getting frustrated. I could pair the tv with a Samsung Android phone via Bluetooth so I knew the adapter was working. Samsung tried to tell me that four pairs of glasses simultaneously went bad and needed replacing. I unplugged the TV for five minutes and my glasses synced with no problems.
