I'm in the market for a new TV. In general I have always preferred plasma, but I think the latest generation LED LCD's have for the most part caught up in picture quality, especially black levels, on the higher end sets. Additionally, my new TV will be wall mounted with windows directly opposite so there may be some advantage for LCD in regards to thinness, weight, and light output. My top contender at the moment is the Samsung UN55D8000. My only concern is the soap opera effect on film based material. I find it rather bothersome. As long as motion resolution is well maintained, little bit of judder doesn't bother me too much. Is it a reasonable expectation that I will be able to adjust the motion settings on sets like these to make the soap opera effect barely noticeable? If so what will be the biggest trade-off? Thanks in advance.
